After one or so years of saving every penny and several months of working hell at a part time job, I'm proud to say I've finally scrounged enough money to buy what I wanted: a nice road bike :)

Cannondale R1000 03' Dbl White. Don't have my road shoes on in the picture (photo was taken in a classroom while I was waiting for a ride to take the bike back home) , but they're a pair of Specialized w. Speedplay pedals.

Now all I'm waiting for is for the weather to get warmer in lousy Toronto :D

Nice looking ride! Where abouts in Toronto did you get it? I have been looking at the Cannondale's as well and have no dealers in Northern Ontario so I will likely be heading to Toronto to do my bike buying when I finally decide.

What kind of price did you pay?

Great place...price is not the most competitive but the service is top notch (I would know since I worked there for many months :D)

I bought the bike prodeal...which translated to about (a low price). Unless you work at a bike store, it retaisl for (I think) $2799 or $2699 CAD right now.

My asian friend thought that road bikes were gay. He then tried out mine and he was like wholly mother this thing is fast. The next day he went out and bought a Cannondale R1000.

Yep, pro deals are definately the way to go
I work at a trek dealer though... :D From a fellow Torontonian I have to tell you that you must be going through hell right now. It's like -30 with the wind chill. I'm afraid to take my bike out, I went into that whole must cleam bike and repack everything phase about a week ago. Bad idea to do in the middle of winter. It took like 4 hours, and now I don't want to get my baby dirty  Anyway, many miles of happiness and I hope you enjoy the new bike.

Last week I was riding the WB&A Trail from Glen Burnie, Maryland to Annapolis. I would venture a guess that 20% of the road bike riders I saw were African American and 15% were Asian. Another 20-25% were women, so old, fat white guys like me were definately in the minority!
