Hi all,
I couldn't find anything when I searched so I decided to post. I had a spoke come loose a few months back (so when i put the bike on the ground it made a tinging sound). So I asked my LBS if I could just tighten it back up and go on with my day and was met with a resounding "NO, bring it in." Well he closes when I get off work, so needless to say I just tightened it back and it's been good for about 3 months. However, now another spoke has came loose (different one). Can I just tighten that one back up and go on about my day or should I really schedule a day off just to take it down to this guy? Also, I'd rather do it myself so if it's something u can explain (but not as simple as just tightening it back up) I'll just do it myself. Thanks for the help!

Take the wheel to a good shop, or wheelbuilder, and have them properly true and tension the wheel. Until it is done, the problem will most likely continue. You can go ahead and tension the loose spoke for now, but the problem is going to continue until the wheel is properly trued/tensioned.

The problem is going to get worse. Pretty soon spokes will stop loosening and start breaking. Have the wheel properly tensioned and do it quick.

Hey Shade73, there is no shame about bringing it in. I too like to do things myself, but if you bring it in this time, watch carefully and ask a couple of questions, you'll be able to do it yourself next time and every time after that.

By the way, I volunteer every Monday at my lbs, and I've learned so much. Another idea for you to consider.
