General Cycling Discussion - 'Bicycle Man' says giveaways to end

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

In the past nine years, Moses Mathis and his helpers have refurbished and given away more than 7,000 bicycles to needy children across eastern North Carolina.

Count us in. Where should we send donation if we are doing it as a forum?

I think i'll send out a email to all the forum members. I can take donations via paypal or creditcard (donations page). I'm not sure if thoes will still be tax-deductable however... :)

It may be simpler (and more tax savvy) for folks to go directly through the web site mentioned above. I emailed the reporter who wrote the story in my original post and gave her the address to this thread.

She said that the responses that were coming in from allsources are tremendous. If she does a followup story and mentions us, I'll let you know. In the mean time, I've sent word to the Bicycle Man (who is Internet savvy) that he's getting support from folks all over the world.

Too cool!

BicycleMan to Keep Going

Moses Mathis plans to pedal on and fix up more bicycles for needy children this Christmas.

Mathis said Thursday he has received enough money or promised donations to keep his charitable work going. On Tuesday, he said that cash donations had fallen off, forcing him to stop the work that he has done for nine years.

may be some of the execs & business men on the forum ( you know the ones that pay the lions share of the taxes) could donate their skills (not money) to oranising some fund raising ventures for this most worthwhile enterprise that must bring a lot of pleasure & selfworth to these kids.
