Hi everybody. My name's Nick and I'm in Chicago, with plans to move to Portland, OR in mid December of '06. I've been commuting via bicycle for a bit over a year now, riding an average of 80 or so miles a week (50 mi./wk. to the job and 30 mi./wk. for my volunteer work). My chief interests in cycling beyond the pragmatic A to B stuff largely involve safety/advocacy issues and mechanical work. I've always been into DIY efforts and find cycling to be the perfect example of such, as well as a great excuse to muck about with tools now and again. Other interests are computers (esp. free and/or open-source software), graphic design, and music.
