Dear crew.

I have the Manitou Axel 2003 on my bike. I got the XT disc brake set as said in previous postings. In the begining i had the 160mm disc rotor for the front and it was to small to reach the caliper in diameter given that i had a manitou adaptor. I ordered a 170mm XT rotor as adviced by shimano since installation on manitou forks requires 170mm rotors. I finally got the 170mm rotor but again it comes short for about 5-6mm to the caliper. The LBS in Greece has (i suppose) wrongly supplied me the 160mm rotor for a manitou, and a FORMULA adaptor for the manitou fork. Is my problem the adaptor? the rotor?
Please guys help me. I live in the UK now so going to the Greek LBS to complain is not feasible. I just dont want to see my 400$ to go wasted.

if i were you i'd just contact Manitou directly and straighten things out with them. They're really good people so they should help to straighten things out

Shimano Disc Brake adaptor for the Manitou 74mm post mount brake. The adaptor to make the brake work on the Manitou fork REQUIRES the corresponding Shimano 170mm rotor in order to be spaced properly.

Check the model numbers, this could be what you need.

I already got the 170mm rotor! Are you sure that with this adaptor it will fit my Manitou Axel fork?

I am asking you because it says 203mm rotor ONLY on the adapter.

Yea I am pretty sure it will, it says it works with the manitou post mount. Check the model number of the adapter you have to make sure the one I told you about isnt the same one:D The manitou does have post mounts right? I am sure that all of them do but im gunna go look real quick.

Well my adapter is not a shimano one. Its a crap Formula adapter for post mount. The lbs in Greece told me that it would fit...but....it didnt. I presume that shimano doesnt produce different calipers for manitou forks right?
do you have msn or yahoo msg?

It almost looks like you need an 8 inch rotor....I guess that adapter I showed you was for 8 inch only, I just wasnt sure what the symbol meant lol but the number in millimeters makes sense.

i posted the picture in order to see the crap adaptor supplied. The rotor in picture is the 170mm and when the caliper is bolted properly then half the rotor enters the caliper. All in all i got a 5mm difference with the current setup. probably the wrong adaptor.
