Hello,
My name is Steve and I am a cycloholic.
I am a mountain biker and commuter cyclist. I have been commuting to work sporaticly for many years, but made a committed effort in 2001 to ride consistanly. I started on my mountain bike with a backpack and a 30 mile round trip commute. Not long after I started I was given a late 80's Miyata touring bike that had been sitting in a closet for 12 years. Mint condition, the seam in the center of the tires were still present. I have since added fenders, 12volt lighting, clipless pedals, rear panniers, second water bottle cage & computer. This bike is the perfect commuter bike. My company moved and now my commute is only 22 miles round trip. I ride 2-3 days a week and totaled over 3000 miles a year for the last 2 years. Unfortunately I don't mountain bike as much as I used to.
I found this forum just recently and found much useful and wise advice. I hope I can add to the wisdom.

Welcome Steve!

I am also a Steve and live in the So. Bay area. There are a fair number of Bay Area folks on this forum, including --- Andy Dreisch, Sailguy, Hawkphoto, UncaStuart, Bandit, and myself.

This is a great forum and you'll find lots of friendly, knowledgeable cyclists here.

Cheers!

Hey Steve!

I commute almost daily from Mountain View to Los Gatos (30 Mile Round Trip). Glad to have you on boad. The crew here helps to keep you (or at least me) motivated on those days you just want to sleep longer.
