Commuting - Ohio, Cuyahoga Falls to Bedford

Anyone local to either of these areas? I am working in Bedford until August. currently living in a nice hotel apartment in Cuyahoga Falls. Thinking of bringing my bike out here and making the daily commute via the Cuyahoga Valley Park. About 40-45 miles round trip.

Used to live in the area, and I rode the park all the time. Not sure of your exact route - but riding through the valley should be a fairly pleasureable expereince. I try to get a ride in whenever I visit the folks.

Your location in Beford would probably be the determining factor of route. Cuyahoga Falls seemed pretty pleasant last time I went through. Bedford, I imagine, could be challenging when looking at route, road quality, etc.

You plan on sticking to the road or using the towpath and getting all chalk covered from the limestone?

Plan would be roads/street in CF to the towpath, up to West Bedford, then streets to work (pharma plant near 8/Forbes rd.).

I walked part of the towpath last night in Paninsula. Very nice area. I can not wait to ride.

peninsula is a great little town. love it there. i've done quite a bit of work i brecksville as well. check out the brecksville metroparks sometime - easy, nice hiking for a fairly suburban park. cute little downtown too.

you'll probably want fenders for riding the tow path. i rode it last fall with my lil sis after 2 days of rain. my road bike was caked with white from the crushed limestone, even though the roads were dry, and the tow path looked dry. not sure what that stuff does to bike componnents, but it was a pain to clean (me, and the bike)

you might want some slightly wider tires as well. a few spots form peninsula to clevleland were a bit sketchy on the 23's i was riding. 25's or 28's would work great, or a MTB.

I currently have a comfort bike with 1.25 slicks, but will most likely go back to the wider tires it came with.

Those should work well... I have taken my touring rig on the tow path with 35's and it did great.
