I just got some new wheels, and decided to treat myself to some new Kool Stop brake pads to go with them. I installed the pads and everything seems fine to me, but I'm just a beginner at working on my bike, and I'm always paranoid that I've missed something. Is it possible to install or adjust brake pads incorrectly such that they can damage my new rims?

Thanks.

What type of brakes do you have?

If the pads are tightened enough that they won't move under braking force then you're fine

I have generic dual pivots on a Lemond Reno.

I would'nt worry too much about the Kool Stop pads hurting your rims if they're centered correctly on the braking surface. If they're adjusted too high they could contact your tire and cause a nasty blow out though.

Just be sure the pads are aligned on the rim's brake tracks and don't rub the tire.
