I just found out! I'll have the new TT bike frame package I ordered next week! I'm totally excited!:D  I bought the TT frame, Carbon Fiber fork with CF steerer tube, S6 headset, Carbon Fiber top cap and Carbon Fiber seat post. That should be enough fiber to keep me regular!:p I'll also post some pictures once it's done.

I'll see if the picture will post:http://www.leaderbikestore.com/auto_resize_blowup.cfm?prod_images_blowup/735TT_bike1.jpg

How did you do on your first trial, um, was it yesterday?

It's my first, but someone I ride with on occasion here has one of their standard road frames. He really likes it and suggested I look into them. I rode his for a few miles and it was responsive and handled nicely. Good warranty program for a small company. I placed two calls out to Leader in Cali...Brian was nice and helpful, and Chris took a lot of time talking to me about fit, my body size, measurements etc... to make sure I was ordering the right frame. He also gave me some tips about using paypal (it's all their online store uses for payment). And Sal (the owner/designer) seems to know his stuff. So, yea..I'm excited about having my first true TT bike very soon.:D

Thanks for asking. It was called due to big black thunder clouds. And light rain, which later turned into heavy downpour. I'll keep everyone posted on the results from the reschedule though.

Found a nice Sellle Italia seat I like for my TT bike build. Going to pick that up tonight after work. And it has Ti rails and matches the frame colors. It's very OCP. :p I also picked up a few more parts I'm in need of off of Ebay this weekend. It is going to be an Ultegra group build with Dura Ace bar end shifters. Friday is the scheduled arrival date for the majority of the stuff. Wooo Whooo!:D

A 1973 Fuji is my "A" ride, but in a few weeks, it'll be displaced by a 1969 Raleigh. I'm a roadie, but one of the retro-grouch variety. I'm coming to terms with some of the 80's technologies, but I don't anticipate being able to personally embrace CF technology for a few more years. :D

Looks like a nice build, but I'm on the lookout for a steel roadie or a folder so that just goes to show you where my interests lay. Let us know how the much faster the carbon TT is compared to your Trek's.

I hate any post 80's technology but for some strange reason I am contemplating the
purchase of a TT bike simply because its impossible to get a tall & short top-tubed
roadie anymore and the bar end shifters instead of that crappo/garbage STI stuff.
If I could find a frame that emulates my lates 70's motobecane I
would be very happy, but, I digress............. :D
Anyway....I was looking at a Foodji Aloha but this bike(Leader) looks really nice !!
How are the Leader people to deal with ???

Ha!! you read that in the MTB thread I see. ;) Yes. I have actually sold the Klein to my brother. BUT... already plan on buying a brand new half squishy TREK SLR MTB 4900 or 6300 with disc brakes. My thought process is that my brother rides a few times a year and has pestered the crap out of me to sell him my Klein. I ride my roadie 85% of the time. So I sold him my treasured steed...on the condition that he must sell it back to me if he ever gets tired of it or MT Biking. He's way more anal about keeping things in pristine condition than I am! So It will be well kept and lightly ridden. I will be purchasing a brand new Trek MTB in the next few weeks to go riding with him. So everyone is happy. And the money from the Klein...... Just look at the photos in this thread!!:D ;)

I have ridden the FUJI Aloha actually. It's not bad at all. Leader has been fantastic to deal with! I cannot say enough about them to this point. And the craftsmanship on the stuff I got is very high. The frame is like $385 by itself, and a nice carbon road fork for it is around $150. It would be interesting to build it as a straight roadie I suppose if you needed the geometry it provides. I'll keep you posted on the build. I got everything I have for now together today. Now I've got to go squeeze some ridding in while the sun is still out!!

A little further along... headset, fork assembly fitted. Steerer cut, carbon cap and expander installed, with carbon spacers under the stem, brakes mounted, BB faced & installed, crankset installed, Front deraillier on for rough fit. I need to decide on the base bar and aeros, so I can get those purchased and in route to me. Pretty much everything else I have.:)

So tonight was my first organized Time Trial Race put on by my cycling club.

My new TT bike is not quite finished, so I rode my Trek 5200 which has aero wheels, but standard road handlebars and shifters. The course was 8.09 miles in an out an back configuration.

My goals were simply this:

1. Don't "Blow Up" (i.e. ride so hard that I couldn't maintain a solid pace)
2. Finish with an average heart rate of 171 - 177 beats per minute and a peak/max heart rate of no more than 185
3 Don't worry about speed, but after I finish, I would like to have averaged 20mph or better.
4 Try to find a rythym to my pedaling cadence and stay focused.

Here's the ride report,

I arrived at the Time Trial later than I wanted, so my warm-up consisted of riding about 1/2 mile down the road to heed nature's call. Then riding back. I set up my trainer and started warming up on that and had about 5 minutes of spinning before I was called up. I wished I had more time to warm up. I usually have to ride about 4 to 5 miles to be warmed up good. I was only about 50 feet from the starting line, so I could unhook the bike and go right out. They called me up and I headed to the line. Riders were spaced out in one minute intervals.

One minute goes by quick in this situation!! Put the bike in the big chain ring, someone from the staff is holding me up from behind, I'm clipped in with both feet, heart rate monitor set, computer set, 15 seconds, 10 seconds, 5, 4,3,2, GO! And I'm off sprinting quickly up to a speed of about 27 mph. I've never ridden this particular road before and don't know the terrain. And since I showed up later than I wanted, I didn't get to ride it slow first. Only myself to blame there.

I have to say the course was not flat. The first hill came up at about 1/2 of a mile but is was short enough that I was able to power up it and carried a lot of momentum, a short flat section and a bigger hill, still a roller, but required shifting down a lot and my heart rate hit 184 so I held the effort there and got over to find a slight downhill with a short flat and a real hill! I focused on being smooth and rode almost all the way up, before I had to finally stand and get over the top at 15mph, which in this situation seemd like a crawl! The rest of the route out was a combination of rollinghills and flats and the turnaround point was midway up a hill on a long straight section of road. I have to say that seeing the riders who went out before me coming back, gave me extra incentive to ride hard and stay focused. Miles 4 through 6 seemed really hard and I had to focus really hard and ignore the burning in my legs to keep a solid pace. I rode these miles at a heart rate of 177bpm and just tried to stay consistent. The hilly section came up again and I really struggled here, on the biggest hill I got down to 12.8 miles per hour and gritted my teeth to pull back up to 21mph on the flat in between hills. After the last hill I had about a mile to go and just gutted it out at 26 mph and a heart rate of 179bpm. I finished at this pace and I came close to catching the rider in front of me. I was spent! My legs felt like blocks of cement and I had to shift into the easier gear to spin back to the start/finish area. But it was a solid effort and I was happy with the way I rode.

My time was 23 minutes and 4 seconds which ended up being at 19.87 miles per hour avg. Not the 20mph or above I was hoping for, but still pretty good. My max speed was 32.5 mph. My HRM said 173 bpm average, so I was in the heart rate window I set for myself of 171 to 177 before the ride. I have to say that the first 1/2 mile I felt unsettled and shifted a couple times before I found the right gear for that first section. That cost me time. I also think I went a little too hard on the hills and as a result it took a little longer to get my heart rate settled so I could push on the flatter sections of the course. I get to do it again in two weeks, so I'm going back there some eveing to ride the course slow and make mental notes and then do a mock run through for time, to see how to attack the course better next time. I feel like my overall effort was about 98% of what I could give. So there's room to get faster. I'm pretty happy with the results. In two weeks I may have the TT bike ready, but I kinda' want to ride it one more time with my road bike, so I can have a more accurate gauge of how much the TT helps.

Thanks to all the Foosters who took the time to read this!

Yes, there are some very cynical people there. I've half a mind to design a "Lantern Rouge" jersey for my personal use. You, on the other hand, might be able to get away with the current South Park Jersey - the one that says "You guys Suck" on the back.

How bizzare!!?? LOL I came within a breath of buying the exact South Park jersey you describe last weekend. But then reality hit and I remembered I still need a bar setup for the new TT bike, so i put it back on the rack. But yeah...I hear you loud and clear USAZ!!

Yep. Your right of course. ;) I've been doing more intervals and adding in the CTS Time Trail workouts, but I'll need to step it up some more, if I want to improve overall. It would have helped if my allergies didn't have my dam nose all clogged up tonight as well! I was struck by how much knowing the course and where to ride hard and where to "hold back the reigns a bit" shall we say have an affect. I'm convinced that even on my road bike, with similar conditions, I could ride it a good bit faster now that I at least have an idea of where to go all out and where to be more conservative. Thanks jyoss!

Nice going, cycle17! I like your plan to do it again with the roadie before busting out the TT, and your hard work. I'd benefit from putting half as much effort into it as you do!

I imagine you'll have to work with the TT bike for awhile before you see the benefit, eh? Different position on the bike, muscle memory, etc. In any case, you'll get a boost, and you'll have another bike to geek out over. Cool runnin's mahn :D

Put a front and rear rack on your bike, load up panniers w/ rocks, then go climb some hills and hit the flats hard. A couple months of that and your engine mods will benefit you on the lighter bikes.

Now all that's left is to drop it off next week at the LBS and have them set up the shifters, brakes and cabling. I have new RED Michelin PRo2 race tires ordered for it as well. Whatcha' think? So I got another set of Bontrager Race X Lite Aeros for my TT bike off ebay for just under $500!!! Retail on these puppies is $800. Very stiff, light and responsive. They are less than a year old and look in like new condition! Now I won't have to change the wheels out from my good road bike to ride TT. I also got a great deal on some tires and a new ultegra cassette. Next week I should be taking the bike in to the LBS for final adjustments and then I get some pictures of the finished build up after that. Woooo Whoooo!! cycle17 has big grin right now.:D

O.K. So I just can't help myself....tonight was like xmas came early! Everything came in except the rear cassette, So I did a quick maintenance on the rims, mounted up the tires and tubes, and did a rough seat and handle bar adjustment. Then I got on the digital scale (which has traditionally been within 1/4 to 1/2 pound of the LBS's bike scale.... Held every part not on the bike in a plastic bag(both brake and deraillier cables, shifters still in the box, chain, pedals, CF brake handles, two packages of bar tape still in the boxes)everything but the rear cassette and the bike weighs.... 18.45 pounds. :D COOL!! I had my second TT race tonight. It was hotter, more humid and windy. Despite that I still bested my previous time on the same course by 20 seconds! I forgot my heart rate monitor though, so I couldn't see where I ended up with that info. I averaged 20.3 mph on a fairly hilly course.
