Introductions - Greetings from CommuterClub.org

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello, everyone. I am not an avid bicyclist though I do like to ride around the block with my 10 year old daughter. I would love to ride more if I only had the time.

I joined these forums to learn more about commuting bicylists. I am launching a non-profit nationwide network of websites for commuters with the mission to help improve the quality of life of all commuters no matter how they choose or need to get to work. Obviously there are a good number of commuters who can ride their bikes to work, and especially in today's world of spiraling gas prices this is certainly going to increase more and more.

I would love to hear from anyone who can contribute to my understanding of what it is like to be a bicyclist commuter, and I will be reading through the commuter section of these forums with great interest. In the near future I will create a page of categorized links on my site and reciprocate the favor, but for now I welcome anyone to post on the forums on CommuterClub.org and promote these forums on mine. I think there is a lot of great information here for commuters who ride their bicycles to work and I definitely want them to be aware of this great resource.

Thanks for the opportunity to say hello.

Best Wishes,

Wayne Meyers

Hi Wayne and welcome.
Kudos on the project.

Good thing you chose ".org" for your website. CommuterClub.com has been in Atlanta for 10 years.

I would love to ride more if I only had the time.
Any reason you can't bike commute? Then you could ride more and learn the joys of bike commuting first hand.

I just joined bikeforums because my DH (husband) out of the blue -- or rather after reading last week's Business Week's cameo on folders -- suddenly announced he wanted to buy a folding bike and begin commuting to work (4-8 miles as the surface streets wander).

I also read the BW article. They look real neat. I would like to be outdoors more (grew up in the Adk Mtns and lived in Moab UT in between moving here to Orange County CA, land of freeways). He wants to lose weight. I think we both would like to do more things together.

I don't have anything to contribute (YET) to your .org -- just interest.

Good luck! ~'spin!~
