Hey. I've been riding alot on my Norco Rival that I got early this year, (first real mountain bike) and of course having 5 years of motocross under your belt askes alot from a hardtail. Anyways, I'm buying a downhill frame over pinkbike, as well as a dual crown. Now don't mistake me for someone with no idea of what I'm doing, when I get into a sport I tend to thrive on knowing everything about it. ;) Anyways, for the fork and frame, I could manage to spend under a grand, which is about what I intend on saving this summer, but If i save more Ill spend more. Now I live in kamloops BC and not many frames are for sale here (try none apperently) so I MIGHT have to have it shipped. I'm just afraid I might buy a dud so just anything I should know about this would be appreciated. Also offers, would be nice. Looking for a 6 MINIMUM travel downhill/freeride frame, 2002 oldest, MAYBE 01 but I doubt it. Fork would be nice if it is newer, I can find some good 05 zokes pretty cheap. Now a was wondering, alot of the frames that meet my criterea are usually between 400 to 700 bucks, is it a good idea to spend that much (little)? Forks rest at like 200 to 400, but I may want to pick up a badass set of shivers or monster T's, a good find is about 500-700 for them. But what I'm asking is, are the cheaper parts like this abused much? I mean they say how much they ride it in the ads and the photos tell alot, but cracks can be small and I'd want to see it before putting down the cash. So suggestions, yeah. Thanks. Btw, I rode a kindof friends 01 or 02 norco drop, loved it. I have the style that fits right in with the bike, and luckily an 01 drop frame is pretty cheap, so I'm happy with even an older frame, and of course norcos. Hell, as long as I ride one, sunpeaks gives me a free skilift pass. Booya! OH, and I intend to switch my components from my to be old bike to the new one, but I'm definetly not keeping them on for long. Crappy shimano gearings gotta go, they are nothing but poo. Then brakes, HFX9's go for cheap. Ill try pick some up.

I don't think you will find a frame in your price range with a minimum 6" of rear travel...

If its your first real bike then look into buying a complete bike, even a used one. I remeber seeing a 02 bullit with monster ts and all the bells and whistles for $1200us on pinkbike.

Did you hear me? I have a bike. Not the best components, but they can switch over and be replaced. And yeah, there are >6" travels for cheap. Correct me if im wrong but stinkies are 7? An 04 stinky is 450 to 500, in a few sizes aswell. I guess I should say, what brand is good. I say a freeride frame rather than downhill, I'll be doing more jumping (and already do) than downhill runs, but I do ride rose hill pretty often, so I need a fs to hit things I want to. So yeah, stinkys are looking good, the norcos VPS's are built for slightly different stuff (north shore and downwill). Man and if you don't believe me about pricing, just check out pinkbike, filter frames to BC canada. Lots of good finds, and also 04/03 Jr T's are very cheap, like starting at 300, to about 600.
