Fifty Plus (50+) - 50+'rs - HOW MANY MILES THE LAST 7 DAYS?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

OK, I know this is unfair, and that all of our circumstances are different.

But, just for the fun of it, how many miles did you ride during the past 7 days?

This is anonymous, so only you will know the truth! :D

EDIT:

Looks like I guessed too low on my upper limits of the poll!

Mines over 175 but its not typical, did part of KATY Trail, & around my home town (enjoyed riding same routes I did 45+ years ago). Also did 40 + today.

I only rode 6 of the last 7 days. 212 miles. Haven't been out today yet. Out I go!

Since it is only a one week sample, likely none of us will be typical. As I said, just for fun, and don't take seriously!

I screwed up. I forgot last Monday's ride so my mileage in the last seven days should be 188, but I voted in the range just below that.

Didn't get the midweek ride this week so only Last Sundays 35 to count. Have to make up for it tomorrow.
Hold on though- I am having a recovery time after my ride of the year so might not make up for it.

233 miles through today with one more day left in the week. 1016 miles last month. But alas, with a broken neck it is difficult to do serious mileage!

I have ridden 124.3 miles the past 7 days. I missed the next step by just 0,7 of a mile. And I might go for a spin later tonight. Today I rode to church for a men's breakfast then later I could not find my water bottle so I rode over to a thrift store and bought another one. Then I rode to a park and took panaramic photo's of a pure stand Eastern cottonwood saplings.

228 miles give or take a couple. I was on the rollers a little bit in the garage. Just hooked a fan to them and was trying it out so I dont know if about 10 minutes worth of those miles really count. I had a few days off work available to ride this last week which is unusual. btw, that fan is GREAT. It really blows a ton of air and it feels good that I am making it rather than the power company. 56 yrs old. Back into racing after a 21 yr lay off.

Starting last Sunday and including today I have 125 miles so far but my usual is more like 90 to 100.

This week included a full century today and several weekday club rides for 163 miles. Last week it was 256, most of which (200) was on last Saturday.

241 for the last 7 days, but that would be atypical for me. Usually 110 to 170 depending on the weather and my schedule.

I never really knew until just lately when I installed that *)&)&%$ tyrant of a cycling computer that I used to ride about 16 miles per day, five or six days per week (thinking I was actually closer to 20 per day). Now, I actually add in the extra 25% distance and DO ride that 20 per day. Tomorrow, I'm putting in my "longer weekend ride." I'll shoot for 30 miles at an average pace of 15mph or higher.

My goal beez to increase my daily mileage to about 25 and my weekend excursion up to 75 or 80. By this Fall, I want to do my first real century.

Per the recommendations of all youse fitness freaks, I'll be adding intervals over the summer (wanna see a fat boy sweat?). I'm also trimming supper each day to fruit & fiber. If this regimen doesn't zap my cholesterol I'm gonna be seriously hacked off! I'm also hoping this regimen zaps at least an extra 25 pounds off my middle. Keep me in your prayers!

I lied, a little. I gave the previous week's mileage, when I toured on the C&O Canal. This week was only about 20 miles.

I am floored that 22% of respondents rode more than 175 miles last week, and almost 50% rode 125 miles or more!

I'm in a training mode for my personal tour in July. I have this new to me used Tour Easy recumbent and it just loves to go cycling. I've changed the gearing to accomodate the hills of the Pacific Northwest and the bike and I are having a ball. I have surpassed the "magic" 1000 miles of having the leg muscle adjust to the recumbent style. It's been a couple of years since I felt this excited about cycling.

Yes, it is certainly not a bell curve. However, it is a bit skewed as I did not provide enough options on the high mileage side, woefully mispredicting the riding habits of our last week's high mileage riders.

I'm with you Dnvr. Man, we have a ton of folks really burning up the road out there!! The Michelins, Vredesteins, Continentals, etc should be doing really well furnishing tires these days!!

If I had choices of 176-200; 201-225; and 226-250, the upside would not have shown as bimodal, but would have withered down, and it would have shown a bit more as a bell curve.

5 days this week, was travelin on Tues/Wed = 160mi. Monday was a holiday though so I got long ride in that I normally would not have done. I get amazed when I look at the top five in Bike journal their at 11,000-12,000 for 5 months that's like 500-600mi/week, now that is a fulltime job.

I'm in Canada, so no miles for us, but being a year round commuter and week end trail/road rider, i commute 40-45 km/day, ride about 30-40km of XC each weekend, and do a 75km road ride Sunday mornings with Mrs. M. (winter too if roads and temp are OK)

Plus errands and sometimes a road ride Saturday afternoon if the chores are done

But never less than 300km/week (180 miles)

146 miles. Would have been more but my son's a high school senior this year, and there's been concerts, award dinners, etc. I don't want to wish away time, but I can't wait until he's got the diploma in his hands.

I've been riding a minimum of 30mi 3 times a week. Sometimes more. Riding in the George Washington Bridge Challenge this weekend. While I'm not doing the 65mi course, I will be doing the 35mi. It's a fun day and benefits the American Cancer Society. I've got to say that my return to cycling after a hiatus of about 7 years has been the highlight of this spring. Especially on my brandy new OCR2. Cheers!!

My commute gives me 150 miles per week, so it doesn't take a lot of extra rides or errands to push me up over the 175 cliff.

Only one ride, about 37 hilly miles, averaging a little over 16 mph. Ditto for previous week. Business travel plus rain was my downfall. Will try to do the thursday night club ride (missed last 3 weeks) this week and ride Sat & Sun. If I was riding what I consider to be a "reasonable" amount, I'd probably be doing about 120 a week, but it would all be pretty hilly. This once a week fitness routine is just not effective, but with a couple of weeks of 100+, I'd be in pretty good shape (for me).
