Which bars would you rather have and why...

Odyssey civillian. They are light, strong, 41 thermal, and made by odyssey, thats enough for me, although i would probably go with the skim milk bars because I don't like the amount of back/upsweep the civillians have. Plus they are 10 bucks cheaper.

i like the 3 amigoes because they are the best looking (in my opinion) and the lightest (i think)

The 3 Amigos are the lightest by about .3 ounces over the Sunday bars. I have heard a lot about the Civillians being very good, and the Scerbos being pretty much amazing. Anyone try the scerbos?

Yeah, if your into scooter bars, haha. There sooo small. I like bigger bars now, i cant wait to get rid of my S&M Mediums and they are the stock 24.5" and i want bigger!
Get either:
S&M Slams
Sunday (the 28" ones...)
Fit Flow Hilite's(what i want...)

With the 27" bars on my mountain bike, my thumbs when on the bars are further apart than my shoulders are. Not too comfortable, in fact the 24.5" stock bars on the BMX were a little wide and I cut them down to about 23", and they feel better. Now my hands on the bars are about even with my shoulders.

This is how your bars should be, it makes it easier to steer, and its more comfortable...
Thats why i like/want wider bars, because right now my hands are usually on the outmost part of the grips on the bars, and they arent even cut, they are still 24.5". And after riding my friends bike that has Slams that are about 26" i like the feel much better. Someone buy me Fit HIlites!!!!

Scerbo bars are made by Animal buddy.
So you dont need to post images of Standard bars.
Scerbo bars are a little weird looking, i wouldnt want those 'old school GT reminiscent bars(spelling?)', stick with Sunday or Odyssey, and if you want another company to look into; S&M.

24.5" is too skinny? I dont know how you can ride with 26-28" bars. Mine are 21"(including endcaps) and they feel perfect. My fried rides with his as 18" but thats just ridiculous. He has to hold the bends and i feel so wobbly when riding his bike.
What do you like better about wide bars? I was trying to ride my cousins bike with like a 28" bars and i couldnt stand it.

You and your freinds ride scooter bars, haha.
Wider bars give you more stability, and they are more comfortable...
Right now with my stock S&M Mediums at 24.5" i have my hands on the outsidemost part of the grip, almost hanging off, and thats annoying, so i want bigger bars, like 26".
And after riding my friends bike who has uncut Slams(28") i found that x-ups are easier with wider bars, its easier to get them past clicked so they look better.

You think x-ups are easierwith wider bars? I find it to be the exact opposite. I think I might just need a longer TT. Im like 6'2" on a 20.5" TT and i dont have a lot of clearance from the bars. I also dont feel wobbly with 21" but anything smaller than that makes the bike feel retarded.

X-ups are far easier with wider bars; there's a reason why Yeagle, Badger, and all the other guys that do ridiculous past-clicked x-ups run tall, wide bars. The same goes for turndowns, lookbacks, lookdowns, indowns, et al.

KC Badger does some crazy 'full x-ups' you were right Beerman (See: New Ride BMX subscription add)
Damn.
My friends Slams are pretty nice, but i really want those Fit Flow HIlites, they are the size i want...26"wide 8"high i wont even need to cut them...

My friend has some Fit Flow Lolites and those are pretty nice- but I am leaning towards the Fly Pantera bars, they are wider and a bit higher up than the Amigos and I just like the look of them better.

Once again, Fly 3 Amigos bars are like the bars on my scooter.
Get bars that are at least 25"

I don't like bars that big, and I have narrowed my search for new bars down to Fly Panteras or Fit Flows. What do you think?

Fit Flows, they are made in the same factory as the S&M bars, and they have warrantys.

06-11-06, 08:23 AM
Yes, I was starting to lean towards the Flows too. Too bad my headphones for my ipod are messed up, because now I have to spend some money to replace them instead of buy bars with some money my uncle is giving me. I need to get a job. What were your first jobs?

Computer technician. Worked there for 1.5 years until the shop had to close due to lack of work. Now I'm almost broke, and it sucks.

Computer technician doesnt sound too bad at all- except the fact that I'm not much of a computer-fixer-upper.

Computers are definitely my thing. I started being homeschooled in about the 2nd grade, and it was about that time that I picked them up. I pretty much suck at fitting in to society and a lot of school subjects, but hell. I wouldn't have been hired if I hadn't gotten my A+ and Network+ certifications and had a long background of programming and setup stuff, btw.
FitRider 921
06-14-06, 04:03 PM
I guess you wouldn't have. My brother is like that, he's been on a computer since before he was two. But I've always been the sports kid in the family, so I'm not usually on the computer. I'm not too bad at school though.

Did you actually get your bars yet???
FitRider 921
06-15-06, 11:03 AM
No, I didn't get my bars yet because I didn't order them yet. I am still awaiting my money from my uncle who is coming up from florida soon- he may buy me a few more things just because he's rich. I may just save the money though and start working soon, and get a new back wheel, sprocket, and chain first. I don't know what I am going to do yet, I still need a job.

S&M bars are not as good, they can take a beating, but they are extremely wide and pretty heavy. Yes, the Flows are wide at 24.5, but they are very light.

No i mean the s&m company owns the fit company do you follow?? s&m makes all the fit stuff because s&m owns both of the companies.

Yes, I realized that. I was just pulling both of them apart and comparing them. I know that they are both owned by the S&M company.

This is true. Paint them white then, just make the paint look good, unlike another kid on another forum who claimed his dad who paints cars for a living painted his frame and its not "shiny"

They aren't horrible, but I don't like them. I hate the welds and just the look and feel of them, but others like them, they have a lot of room to cut them.
