Very nice - when do the fenders go on?

Glad to see you have a rear view mirror. I wouldn't ride without one!

Great looking ride! Pinerider has a point. Fenders might be a good idea, at least for winter. Some SKS fenders would look good.

fenders I have to order I was hoping to adapt the ones from my mtn bike, but cannot. The lbs wants almost 4 times more than i can get em for. I found a cheap set of panniers but they have be ordered as well. now 12 miles into it it rides real nice and stable even on the ice this am speed is up 6-8 mph as well. now if the cars would get out of the way..............

Don't go cheap on the panniers. I usually try to look for bargains and really enjoy a cheap product that lasts relatively long and works decent. I tried that with panniers and got burned. They broke after two days of commuting. Sent them back and got some from Arkel. It's all about the mounting system.

Great looking bike Nemo!:p

I have a 7200 for my son to ride and I just went shoping around for a commuter and hop on and ride to the store bike. I lucked up on an older model Trek 830 xc with a cromo fork. I rode it and another around and did mannage to get dumped once on a patch of clean slick ice. but I brought it home with me!
How many miles do you plan to ride?

well once i put on the sigma it turns out the commute is considerably less than i figured.I had it figured at close to 2.5 miles each way turns out it 1.5 LOL So I am riding longer routes to pick up more miles. As you can see from the pic I can stand to lose weight so I need it. I am shooting for around 7 a day till spring. then more like 15 or so with some longer rides on my days off. So far I love it! of course i have to get used to the new geometry. Aches in all new places LOL.

Stick with it Nemo. Even if the pounds don't come off too quickly, you feel better and the ride home gives you a chance to unwind and relax.

Good point, Garlic!! If someone had told me a year ago that I would be bike commuting a 44 km (27 miles) a day round trip in -12 C (10 F) temperatures, I woulda told them they're nuts!! I started with a short commute of 12 km (7.5 miles) in August. Some are telling me I'm nuts for doing it, but the rewards for a little persistence are amazing!

2 yrs ago I started back to commuting by bike out of necessity. The wife and I could not afford a second car, And I could not drive it if we could have. The sad thing is I lived closer then than now, it was a 10 minute walk, or about 6 or 7 blocks. I complained so loud about walking, that i bought a bike to get there faster! now I was up to 5 minutes ride wahoo! a few months of that and I began to see how dumb it was to drive to work period. the first winter i rode everyone told me I was crazy. "its to cold" or "if u ride in the street like that someone will hit you" There was only one day I did not ride that year and that was bgecause it was so icy I could not stay on ther bike. I learned a lot that winter about staying warm and safe.now this year I am having fewer issues with cold and stuff. I really enjoy riding and am sticking to it even for shopping and stuff.

Check these (http://www.nokiantyres.com/bike/winter/) out nemo. They'll solve that pesky ice problem for you.

The more I ride this Bike the less I want to get off of it!
