I am of a mind this morning to start my commute and not finish it. To keep going. To not stop until I have found adventure on the open road instead of cubicles.

Nice. I say ride on. You'll know when you get there.

Well said. Can you pick me up in three months when you hit the east coast.

For some reason, I just started humming CW McCall's "Convoy"

"Cause we gotta great big convoy, rockin' through the night
Yeah we gotta great big convoy, ain't she a beautiful sight?
Come on an' join our convoy, ain't nothin' gonna git in our way
We're gonna roll this truckin' convoy, cross the USA
Convoy..."

Scary.

Saw a news report yesterday of a couple that took two years to go around the World by human power. Hiked across Siberia and rowed across the Atlantic. Biked almost everywhere else. She said the most excitement was they woke up in the rowboat and saw a wall of steel 3 feet from the boat  . The news report had a video clip of a tanker 'sailing' away from them.

Somehow I'm thinking of Bob Seger's "Roll Me Away", it just seems to fit the mood exactly!
Can't remember the exact lyrics good enough to quote them though.

That's why we bike to work, isn't it? The idea that one day we might just keep going. :)

I feel that way every morning.

how many of us are like this? Where the best part about the job is the commute.

Hey ya still riding yet? The urge has struck me more than once, I have even acted on it a couple of times...just didn't keep going long enough:p

I have that urge every morning :p

My one consistent statement to coworkers and family about cyclocommuting is:
"I love the ride. However, the destination leaves a bit to desire."

The Forest Gump of cycling! "One day I just started riding". Come through Florida, I'll ride too!

That would be funny if i did that. Of course in Houston I'm not bound to get anywhere.

Well, all of you are east of me, so I should be able to swing by everybody on my way to...nowhere.

Unfortunately, my responsible side made me go up the driveway to the office instead of continuing east.

Yep, burnout. :(

Come North aways to Nebraska and get me. Better yet, I'll meet ya half way and we can go from there. I really do love the midwest...

If he drops by and picks everyone up, it will end up taking 35 years. :D

I think it's a SHE, but in any case, that'd be one helluva trip. Sounds like she'd meet a lot of nice cyclists along the way.

This reminds me of the BikeForums world relay thread about a year ago...maybe 1.5yrs? whatever happened to that?

As a music teacher, I can honestly say I look forward to getting to work. For me it's the ride home, when I can let go of all my concerns at school and just let the silence (until vehicles pass me) and the solitude (except when a green pickup truck turns right directly in front of me, but that is another thread) of cycling that I really look forward to. No phones, just fresh air and warm sun light . . . :D
