A nice article that covers 2 people who decided to see what it was like to "kick the car habit (http://www.bbc.co.uk/devon/content/articles/2006/05/05/transport_blog_feature.shtml)" for 3 days.

from the article:

It's been great catching the train, and nice to get a bit of exercise on the bike. The car is more convenient and in wet weather I probably won't cycle. But I will definitely want to take the train more often.

Lots of choice of train times travelling back from Plymouth to Totnes and I had a pleasant journey. The drive home in rush hour is usually awful. Trying to get out of Plymouth along the Exeter Road and embankment is very slow. So I was very happy to be on the train.

I love articles like this. :)

Those were very good stories. I would like to know what folding bike he was using. It seems like there was a hill on his return trip where a lower geared bicycle would have been better. Overall, very good stories of how public transportation works well. My journey to work via lightrail is so unevenful, it's not even worthy of printing. However, each morning as we pass the turnpike, I see the traffic backed up for 4 miles! I don't know how anyone can stand that commute to work.
