Bow tie, perhaps, for all who wish to indirectly parody Tucker Carlson...
Hell, why not dress like quasi-Riddler "Mr. Info" himself, Matthew Lesko? That's about as non-Lanceified as one can get...
What I want to know is, who is going to be man enough to apologize to me for falsely attributing the comment to me? Who on these cycling web sites will have the decency to acknowledge that they have made a mistake by erroneously identifying me as the person who made the comment?
And my response would be, "Why no-one, sir. Your response to uproar over an inflammatory, killing-advocating comment made on *your* show, during a segment where you yourself bad-mouthed *all* cyclists, is more dick-waving and braggartry? Why, this constitutes no apology at all --not even the most feeble imitation of one! Your lack of sincerity is astonishing, . . .
My thoughts exactly. But it is amazing how many people think that cyclists owed this guy an apology. And evidently many wrote apologies to him. Probably this came across as soothing his overblown ego and letting him off the hook. I wonder how the whole thing would have played out if the original attribution was to the "show" rather than him individually? I guess a bunch of cyclists wrote in to insult him and he read those emails on the air, which basically supported his main point that cyclists are "arrogant users of the road", when this is based in ignorance of what it takes to cycle safely on the roads. Just this morning I had to take the entire lane because a huge city bus was barreling down behind me. A driver in the inner lane honked at me and pointed for me to move over. Evidently, he didn't understand that if I moved over, the city bus would try to pass. I've had it happen before on that stretch of road and it is not fun. I turned off the road about 1/2 mile later and bus passed, no problem.
Obviously not "ordinary people," no suit and tie involved... Wonder if I wear a tie with my jersey... will it change the view motorists have of me?
Gocha covered just wear this to work!

All this chest beating is suspicious. I say let the FCC determine who said what if the comment is serious enough to warrant a complaint & is acknowledged by an apology. Keep complaining until the FCC response is known. Is an apology from a station worker enough? It may be a fine is still in order to prevent other station workers from making such comments on the air.
As for all this "man" talk, if there is one activity that is maligned as badly as cycling it may be working as a morning DJ. Those guys are insulted by every living, breathing creature that has the misfortune of hearing their broadcasts.
Everyone, even the ones who might laughingly call themselves "fans" of these fools will acknowledge that. It's because it is okay to do so, perfectly acceptable behavior to insult a morning DJ of this type/caliber.
After all, they are paid to be fools, aren't they? There isn't even a minimum requirement of talent for such a position, all you have to do is be willing and able to withstand every living creature hearing you, quite properly as it is your function, as a fool. That's it.
I think your search for an apology will be a long & fruitless one, DJ Fool. No one has any need of the approval of a clown. Actually, there are many talanted clowns in the world that would be insulted by that association, let's stick with fool.
Even if the fool (a fool in the room is the most likely to make such a egregious slip of the tongue after all) didn't make that remark, no apology is required. The reason being, this person either is a fool, or the persona they take on is that of a fool. If the fool was only trying to ACT like a fool, then what are we to do, apologize to a fictional persona? No, that is never required of anyone.
