Is there anything wrong with riding my old road bike on trails? It has 27X1 1/4" tires so it's not bad, but I was wondering if that's some kind of no-no, as in it causes more trail wear or something? I don't care if I look like a Fred, but I don't want to be ignorant.

Also, the reason I am thinking of it is it may be icy on the roads this weekend. Would it be any better on a trail? Am I likely to bust my rear-end?

Thanks.

Except for the funny looks I don't think there would be anything wrong with it. Cyclocross is pretty close to a road bike so why not :)

I rode my road bike with 700x23c tires on flat, hardpacked dirt roads a few times. It wasn't that bad, no damage to the road.

I suggest experimenting.;)
