Introductions - Scott (n4zou) from Alabama

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Just joined this bike forum and find it very nice. I have been riding a bike on and off from the time I was 8 yrs old. I had to retire due to severe arthritis two years ago and one year ago my Doctor put me on dope for the pain. I immediately knew I wanted nothing to do with that! My Doctor told me that for some people, riding a bicycle will eliminate pain better than drugs and he was correct! I now ride 50 miles at a time every other day and use one of my bikes to go shopping and for general transportation. I am off all pain medication, dropped 35 lbs, and I am in better physical condition than I have ever been in. I am also an Amateur Radio (HAM) Operator and sometimes take a radio transceiver with me on my bicycling adventures and talk via radio with other HAM radio operators along the way.
Welcome from a neighbor to the east.
Kudos on the weight and meds achievement.
Ham radio on a bike? Now there's a new one. Must be one huge battery. :o

Welcome to the forum! Lotsa good stuff here, look around. What part of Alabama are you in? FYI, I'm also a ham, but I'm pretty much inactive since I spend my spare time on my bike!;) I don't take my radio on my bike because I really like less noise and diversion when I'm riding, not more! AI4GZ
