At my bike shop I found hidden behind the usual floor pumps for sale with clamp-on heads, a pump with a two-piece metal head by Work Force. It looked like it had been there a long time, the older unadoptable orphan. I felt sorry for it and boutght it (at a discount).

Now I'm wondering the best way to use it. The head appears to attach to the hose the way the hose attaches to you auto mechanic's air wrench. One end fits over the tire's stem (naturally). A sliding sleeve locks the hose fitting to the other end.

So to begin, do you fit the head separately over the stem, then attach to hose to the head or attach the head and hose as a single unit. When you're finished do you pop the hose off the back of the head separately, then remove the head? I'm sure I'll figure out the best way by playing with it, but I wondered it there was an accepted way. Thanks.

it may be one like mine, the "orkan". with that pump, i have to pull out the handle, and flip the top bit to make it horizontal (like a track pump). there is a mini stand at the bottom i can then flip down. i screw the adaptor into the bottom of the pump, and then screw the other end onto whatever valve i need to pump.
it may be a similar job!

That sounds like the same pump that I have. If you leave the end piece off, you can use the pump on Schraeder valves. With the end piece coupled on, you use it with presta valves. Though it was really tight at first to get it onto a presta valve, it has loosened some over time. Now it goes on quite easily. Don't take the end off, just push it onto the loosened presta valve and begin pumping.

I hope this helps!

Thanks, Dale. I wondered how it could be used for Scraeders. You saved me trying to push the end meant for Presta over the larger Schraeder.
