Classic & Vintage - Bianchi "Campione del Mondo" - what is this?

So I'm looking at a bike for sale that has the 1986-1987 Campione del Mondo Colorado Springs" decal on it. It says "Made in Italy" and the serial seems to be 24151. It also says 1.6 on the bottom bracket. The bike comes with Suntour XC-Pro derailleur, and unidentified campy brakes and 170mm cranks. the headseat is shimano XT.

are these just a bunch of unoriginal components? if so can anyone tell anything about the frame from the serial numbers? im hesitant to buy without knowing whether this is of decent quality.

A Bianchi made in Italy is a high quality frame, and campy mountain parts are great quality, and rare too. Suntour XC-Pro is really good stuff, and so is Shimano XT. Sorry, I cant help you with the serial number. If you post some pictures, some more members may be able to help you out more than this.

The campion del mundo sticker is bianchi trumpeting their 86-87 world championships - the model is something else. Those parts wouldn't have come stock on a bianchi of this vintage...but it is a bound to be a pretty nice bike. Need to see some pictures and maybe know what size the seatpost is, then we'll be able to get a little closer on the model. Failing that, tell us what the frame material sticker says (should be on the seat tube at the top, facing forward).

I couldn't find a model name on this one, but I scored it for $20CAD with all campy equipment on it. This also has the Campoine del mondo (Champion of the world) sticker.

I'd buy it if its the right price for you, this bike rides like a dream. It's funny because its probably my favorite bike right now and I just bought a $700 bike a few months back.

Thats an '87 nouvo alloro, I know because I bought the exact bike brand new. It has campy victory components. The price new was about $800us in '87. good deal!

so apparently it is a Brava. It does sound like the components did not come with the bike originally. I like the frame and the components sound good - does anyone have an idea of what is "reasonable" for something like this? I would be willing to pay $350, I think - that is, it is worth that to me - but could I find something like this for less or is that a reasonable price for it?

OK, the serial number indicates it was manufactured in late 1986, which is corroborated by the Campione decal. So it could be a 1986 or 1987 model. I recall these frames having Bianchi/Colmubus II main frames and Aelle forks and stays. Original component would have been Shimano 105 or Modolo/Ofmega/SunTour Sprint. Original price would have been around $400 US. The 105 versions usually sell in my area for around $125. Most of them are black with celeste trim.

One could argue that the replacement components are better and demand a higher price, but conversely they are non-original and many would argue that depreciates the value. We'd really have to know the brand and models of all the components.

Wasn't the '86 world's in Colorado Springs? Ya don't suppose that's the connection...

Sometimes I think Winning's coverage was actually a couple notches above OLN.
