The Paradox

Hi, I compete in an electric car racing league called Electrathon. An Electrathon car is very similar to a trike, basically its one wheel in back powered by an electric motor, and two wheels in the front for steering and braking. The total weight of the car with driver and batteries included are around 350 lbs. In an average race it would probably go around 25-35 mph, but some of the faster races they can go 50+ mph. The races last one hour. The racetracks many times are laid out in parking lots.

I am looking for recommendations on lightweight, strong, low rolling resistance brake/wheel/tire assembly that handles quite nicely. The wheels don't lean at all so the lateral forces acting on them would be quite a bit higher than a normal bike. Preferably they shouldn’t be all that expensive, and they should be durable.

I am going to use a 20" rim, and an axel 13mm or above. For the tire I was thinking about a Schwalbe Stelvio 20" x 1 1/8" High Pressure Tire. As far as brakes I was thinking about getting Arai drum brakes, used on tandem bikes, and shaving the excess metal off them, as brakes wont be used much during the race.

With that said I really need help on choosing rims and hubs. Any recommendations would be helpful.
