Hi all,
Can someone kindly explain what is the difference between a 7005 alu frame and 6061 alu frame?
And what does the number mean?
Thanks

They are the model numbers of different aluminum alloys. 6061 would be the harder one.

You've actually left off the most significant part, the heat treatments.
7006 and 6061 are weldable aluminum alloys. 7006 costs more but, after welding only requires a T2 heat treatment so it's a little cheaper to make bike frames out of. 6061 requires a T6 heat treatment after welding which brings it real close to the metal's plastic state.

Not true.
7000 Series Al is high-strength, harder, more difficult to weld, and more brittle.
6000 Series is med-strength, more flexible and less likely to develop stress fractures.
I recommend 6000 Series for people buying Al frames.
