Has it ever occured to you that some day, we will be out of topics to discuss in this forum? Every single possible topic will have been discussed, most of them many different times. There will be nothing left to say to one another. It will already have been said.

Different people different bikes.
New: trails, roads, technology, laws, races, health foods. By the time we have all that discussed we will have forgotton what we discussed at first.

LOL....I suspect we'll never quite run out.... more likely we'll be first replaced by a younger generation of BF'ers who can re-fight clipless vs. platform, steel vs. whatever, etc. We can move on to a forum on wheelchair cycling.

And, the same threads repeat themselves ad nauseum. Much like life and conversations that we have with others.

I never care about the topic, just the dynamic of the people posting. In fact, we could generate a generic catch-all topic line, and let it run, ad infinitum.

This sounds like something I might have said about my first wife, but not the wonderful woman that I'm still married to after 26 years. I guess if we run out of things to say, I can file for a BF50+ divorce!

Gary, get a grip! This is the place where people can go into detail about spoke cross patterns, the advantages of plus or minus five pounds of air pressure in tires, the relative value of taking supplements to keep joints functioning, the never ending stream of close calls with four wheelers, and the merits of an infinite number of bicycle seats. Nothing left to say? R...i...g...h...t. The real question is, will we live long enough to say everything that's in us and needs to be said?

No problem Gary. One of the advantages of aging is, we won't remember what we posted. So we can repeat all of it thinking it's all new! What a happy thought.

I know that we will run out of topics eventually, but the variety will be there to keep most of interested, instead of bored about answering the same question about every 3 months or so.

I also look at the mountain biking forum, and It is surprising how many times questions about sizing of bikes- what tyre to use- broke this (Put bike part here), any reason why- etc. etc. etc. just keep coming up. At one stage I was answering 3 differrent postings on how to set up disc brakes- what disc brakes to get- and why use disc brakes. All basically with the same answer.

Think we have short memories, or can't think of topics? Try some of the younger groups.

Your post made me think more about this. One of the other loves in my life is guitars, playing and repairing them. I actually know considerably more about guitar repairs than I do bicycles. I've done repair work and set up work for professional muscians for years. The thing is that I love guitars so much that I'll talk about them any place any time with any person. So, when a newbie asks me a questions about a guitar, I don't see it as an intrusion. Rather, I see it as an opportunity to switch my thoughts to something I really, really love. When I signed up for BF, I knew I was addicted and that I wanted to someday reach the same level of knowledge and expertise with bikes that I have with guitars. (Being a wrench 30 years ago I thought I was there, but things have changed so much!) I know there are those who are frustrated or annoyed with the same questions and discussion time and time again, but I confess that I'm not one of them. This venture into the world of cycling provides relief from the daily grind and the missery and suffering I often see. To me, it's like smelling a fresh rose. I never get tired of it, even if it's a rose from the same bush from which I already smelled a hundred roses before.

I was going to say something, but I can't think of anything NEW to say that hasn't been said before, in this forum, by others, so I will keep my mouth shut, and go out bike riding over the same road I've ridden thousand of times before.

I could post photos of my butt-bruises from the latest accident if it'd keep the ball rolling, Gary!:roflmao:
