I took my wheel in for warranty replacement, they said I could either get a better wheel for free right away, or wait a couple weeks for the stock wheel to come in. Of course I took the upgrade. They upgraded me from a WTB Dual Duty to a Bontrager Superstock. I tried researching it and all I've found are Presta versions of this wheel, none say schrader compatible.... so I tried changing my front tire and i can't pull the valve stem out of the rim, i tried pulling fairly hard without tearing the tube, tried hitting it with a hammer to no avail. Do you think they gave me a presta rim and crammed a schrader tube in it? i don't know much about presta valves. Can I fix it by cutting the tube out and punching the stem through the rim the other way? then dremel it out a few mm?

If your bike shop installed the tube that's stuck, I would take the wheel to them and have them remove the tube and file the rim hole wider. You could easily do it yourself using the method you described, but if anything goes wrong, better to have them be responsible for making it right. That's my opinion.

True, and they'd probably give me a new tube for free too. Thanks

This may sound stupid, but did you take the retaining nut off of the valve stem on the presta tube before trying to remove it from the rim?

its a schrader tube so there isn't a lock nut, unless theres one on the rim, but i didn't see one.
