I have my First road race in march. How would I train for something like that? Its 28 miles long and no climbs. Can you tell me what you do to get ready for a race? I talked to some people who have done it before and they said it was going to be fast, very fast. How would I train for something like that?

is it a crit? and will it be seperated by catagory? in other words, will you be with people your level new to racing (cat 5)? or are you going to be thrown to the sharks?
if your friends think it will be fast, you might want to work on your speed, and being able to maintain it for longer periods of time, remember though you will be in a draft during the race. working on sprinting probably wouldn't hurt as they will most likely be a few breaks during the race (and at the end) riding with others could also help if you are not used to drafting.

the race is a 14 miles loop and we loop two times. I will be with the cat 5 racers. The other groups go out first.
