Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

what shops would you recommend for used or new bikes and also had good experiences with?
thanks in advance.
Is that Louisiana or Los Angeles?
If its Los Angeles, "LA" is a big area. What part of LA?
Never mind, I'll just support my LBS...

if its L.A., then try any of the helens cycles. good shops
20 minutes south of LA in redondo beach is Bill Ron's. Lots of new and vintage track stuff and Bill is an absolute fountain of knowledge.
P.S. i recently met a guy who worked at the helen's in marina del rey who said they have very little fixed gear stuff, despite most of the employees riding fixed.

I have to recommend Open Road in Pasadena (take Colorado to Sierra Madre, go north about a block. Giant wherehouse on the right). His shop is basically a giant wherehouse of bike parts. A lot of used stuff for mad cheap. He is also one of the strangest people you will ever meet. Totally nutjob, but he has more old bike **** for cheap than anywhere else in LA.
Are you in LA now? You didn't tell any of us? For shame!

Steve is pretty weird.. I think its so much time on the bike that got to his head.. But he has a bunch of random old stuff that could be hard to find. He also has a decent tire selection ... at least compared to the places ive been too...
Hes very short about things though, just dont take it offensivly, thats just how he is... Ive been going there for a bit and i guess thats the reason he has a bunny collection in the back and never straightens the place up.. it adds character
