Is anyone here truly passionate about Electronica, from "Trance" to "Drum & Bass", and from "Chill-Out" to "Progressive House". When you hear a deep bass line humming parallel to a ground-shaking drum line, do you find yourself wanting to move and groove? Then let's talk about the latest in Electronica!

My god, you do live in Miami, don't you?
I love that kind of music! What artists do you like 477?

Here in the Tampa Bay area there is a station that plays a weekend segment called "The X Factory". It is total Electonica and trance and everything in between. Only problem is, it is on from like 10 pm to 6 am two days a week. I do want more but no chance of it ever getting radio time around here.

Well, I love pure, Progressive and Neo-Soul House music. In terms of straightforward Electronica I like ATB, Felix the Housecat, Todd Terry, Frankie Knuckles, Mateo & Matos. Of course, those are mostly D.J's, but I do enjoy artists like Reel People, the Seawind Project, Audio*****s and so on.
Some really cool compilations for "Happy House" are the Bargrooves Series, After Dark and so on.

We used to have a 24-hour station here, but the dance format was abandoned for 24-hour Hip-Hop. It is a huge loss because the D.J's were amazing and they were passionate about Electronica, featuring selections that had world-wide appeal. I really miss that station. :(

Lol...Hey, what's wrong with Electronica. It's one of the only modern genres that bring people of different races, cultural backgrounds and nationalities together. :D

Hey, what's wrong with Happy House? That's where it all started. I love Happy House, particularly, if the groove has a deep, heart-grabbing bass that vibrates me to the core. That's what I like to call "effective House". :D
Well I also like trance a tad more. My favorite artists are dj encore, armin van burren, ATB is cool, BT, Ian Van Dahl. Oh yeah 477 how bout the Mavs owning the Heat:D
I'm an IDM girl, gimme the clicks n beeps.
Funky house is always fun, as well.

I've always been partial to electronica. I grew up listening to all kinds of electronic music (future funk, industrial, new wave, techno ...)
Here recently I've been big into jungel (darkstep, techstep, breakcore, etc) Artists like Tech Itch, Black Sun Empire.
But my favorite artist is ... me. I've been mixing and remixing tracks for some years now. I've had a few club favorites, been on the radio, made a few dollars. But, now I have kids and a bicycle so not much time to work on music. My latest is a remix I did for Globalwavesystem that should be out this summer.

a little blurb about the remix that should be out soon

That's fantastic. Please, keep me posted. I'd like to hear the track. I do my own music as well, but mostly Progressive House. I lay the tracks and do all the vocals (background included). But, I'm still a bit bashful about others hearing my music. :o

I'm sorry, dude, but I'm not much of a teamsports fan. It bores me to tears to be honest with you.

Is it bad that I am a 45 year old male, living in the midwest, who loves this kind of music????
I have an mp3 disk in now that has Felix Da Housecat, Timo Maas, The Party, Playgroup, Mauro Picotto and Lava on it.
Great sitting on the floor, in the dark, slipping away into another world music.
Mekka-Diamondback is an awesome awesome song.

Nice. my friend, Frost-RAVEN, make electronic/dance music. In fact, he has one album out on Naspterlinks. One of my favorite tracks within his Desert Walker album is "Rewind." Most of his music is psychadelic-sounding, but it's definitely worth listening to. Let me know what you guys think of his music.

Absolutely not! Electronica is the music of the future, and any music of the future is going to have followers from different walks of life and those of different ages, too. Your being that age and listening to Electronic is actually commendable because you see the profundity of the genre. Hats off to you.

Thanks for great reply.
I try to keep up with current music of all kinds, unlike my friends around my age. They are still stuck in the 70's classic rock mode.

Oh, I pity your friends, man. There's lots of music worth listening to out there that are new and fresh. One of the challenges, however, is that a lot of it is underground, and you'll usually only learn about them through pirate radio stations, alternative periodicals, websites and night/dance clubs, lounges and through online groups like this one. As a matter of fact, a lot of the big names in Electronica now started off in the underground circuit.
So, who are you definitely "diggin'" right now? For example, I'm really feeling almost everything that the Kinkysweet label has out now, from the "Bargrooves" to the "Loft" series. I simply can't get enough. Hey, you should check them out at www.kinkysweet.com. If you enjoy Progressive House music, you'll love almost everything they offer. Enjoy! :D

That was fantastic. I'm seriously thinking about purchasing a few tracks from his album. His stuff's clean, pulsating, and technotronic. I'm really diggin' it. Is this his debut release?

I like some electronica, but it's a God-given fact that Florida is, in fact, Hell on Earth.
edit: Is "technotronic" even a real word? I'm convinced that you just made that up.
I found this the other day

It's a very comprehensive guide to all sub-genres of electronic music

Technotronic is a ropey 80s pop group - anybody remember Pump up the Jam; Get Up etc?
Anyways, I love dance and electronica. I've noticed lately that alot of Americans seem to despise it for no apparent reason - I really don't get that at all?

Artists:
Boards of Canada
Animal Collective
Fennesz
The Books
Brian Eno
Keith Fullerton Whitman
Alot of music sites list these artists as "electronic." However none of them would be played or mixed in a dj setting. Maybe they are categorized wrong. Maybe they should be avant-gard or atmospheric?

Have found a station in Tampa that now plays from noon till 1:30 or 2:00. Awesome mixes of house and old school that is jammin'! It is called "The Old School Lunch" w/ DJ Cause and Scatman. My work comes to a standstill. It is truly epic. WLLD Holmes Beach. 98.7

Boards of Canada are the shiznit
I like drum n bass, many varieties of house, nu school breaks, and many artists from the bazillion subgenres. I have been making my own beats for about 5 years. I play them once a year at a party my friends throw in the Angeles National Forest.
Lately I have been crazy about Royksopp and am hoping to score some good jungle for x-mas (my wife is also an ex-raver)

Yeah, I listen to a lot of electronica - mostly trance (Ferry Corsten, Armin van Buuren, Marco V, Gareth Emery, Johan Gielen, ect.) I do like a lot of more commerical dance music tho, it's fun and very danceable (like Benny Benassi.)
I listen to a lot of trance/dance/electronica type stuff. When I want to get pumped up before a ride, I listen to a lot of Crystal Method, Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, Groove Armada, etc. And I like to listen to trance type stuff when I'm doing homework or studying. Helps me concentrate.
Paul van Dyk, Armin van Burren, Tiesto, Thievery Corporation, Markus Schultz, Oceanlab are a few of my favorites. I actually saw Paul van Dyk, Armin van Burren and Markus Schultz back in October. Awesome stuff.

I have some Chemical Brothers MP3 on the computer. I've listened to Area 33 on Sirius. I dont hate it, but i find i cant listen to it very long without getting bored. After an hour it all starts sounding the same. But hey, at a club its a totally different atmosphere and in that setting, its perfect.
