I know a messenger in sacramento who has his wheel laced that way and he rides the hell out of it with no problems.

I love crazy twisted spoke patterns.
A lot of people hate them.

some claim that this pattern is stronger. i have no idea myself, but it looks like a PITA to lace.

A friend of mine who is a good wheelbuilder did a set of these for S&G's, he said it took him like 10 hours to do the set. This is a guy who can whip up a front wheel in 30-40 min.
I never did ask him, but how the heck do you calculate spoke lengths for that shizz?

Is that the guy with the Pista Concept with the red phil in the rear? Great bike.
I've seen a Chub laced up like that in town as well.

He had a concept i think. He has a red anchor now, and the back wheel is a spinergy.

I've loved that Kalavinka for quite a while now. Very nice. How's it look now? A bit more beat up? I always thought that bike would look really nice, aged.

Still in nice shape.
His Bareknuckle is his "work" bike.
Oh, and it's even more beautiful in real life.

love that ****. but for my money a leading/trailing setup looks equally as cool and is a smarter and truer way to go.

You're right, he had the twisted spoke wheel on the front. Nice guy, I forget his name. He has been at a couple of the races here.

I read somewhere, I think in one of the the several books about wheelbuilding, that twisted spoke patterns are not as strong as standard 3 cross...but that its better for you kids to spend time building twisted spoke wheels than doing crack.

I've got one laced like that to a rear chub, and it's been fine for a damn long time now. Stiff as ****. The theory behind it sounds kooky ("virtual flange"?), but I'm a fan of the results.
