General Cycling Discussion - You know you've got it bad when...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

You know you've got it bad when...
10. Your wife has to hide her razors from YOU.
9. YOU challenge your kids to race.
8. The only other thing you can do for six and a half hours without stopping is sleep.
7. Your bike cost more than you car.
6. You can talk about the condition of your crotch with complete strangers.
5. You develop a pathological hatred of wind.
4. You think, no, you know that (choose one: gloves, glasses, jerseys, water bottles) will make your bike go faster.
3. The only French word you know is peleton.
2. You see an attactive person of the opposite sex riding a bike nude. You strain your eyes trying to see who made the bike.
AND (drumroll please)
1. You don't even remember the last time you thought "You rode your bike HOW far?"

I have a love/hate relationship with the wind. But we have worked out an agreement. It stays away from me on my bike, and finds me on the the boat. This way we both get to "stretch our legs".

So what if you've learned to love the wind?
13. When I yell "Bump" to my stoker, only to hear her remark, "We're in the car dummy!":p

I have yet to develop this love when not on the boat. I have a hard time riding into the wind, or up very gradual grades that aren't easily percieved by the eye. The upper desert in California is a great example of this. Oh, it looks flat, but one direction is definately downhill. My mind hasn't wrapped itself around the fact that speed is just an illusion in those instances.
