As a mechanical engineer working with hydraulics, the only union I need is an AN 815!

There *are* engineer unions. Now, on the other hand, if you think you need one...

Unions and ownership are just two sides fighting for power. Abuses on both sides. And the world is a better place thanks to both.

I know a union took money out of my $7/hr paycheck in high school.

Yep that is very true.

I'm considered "management." I have a salary and benefits, but no set hours and no overtime pay at the ConglomoCorp telco that provides my wages.

We have lots of union folks, too.

I consider myself a "Union of One." I can strike, but I strike alone and I don't have a whole lot of leverage beyond my vast knowledge of whatever it is they have me working on. Though they all know I am indispensible and just the unspoken threat of me striking provides me with ever more benefits and higher salaries and bonuses each year! ;)

Power to the People (Me, that is!) :D

There is a great film called "Live Nude Girls Unite!" which documents a union drive in a strip club. It is actually a very interesting and smart film that merits a serious viewing.

When I was a sex worker, I was non-union. I was, however, the tightest piece of ass this side of the Rockies. Oh yeah. Believe it.

Did I mention I am going to Sweden in 2 weeks? I wasn't looking forward to it, but now I am for some reason.

I am non-union. I despise unions. All they do it erode the manufacturing base in America, and take money out of the pockets of those who need it. They were needed when there was no such thing as OSHA. I have seen too many non-union companies with happy workers making a great wage and able to cut costs to know that unions just don't work for anyone but the union leaders anymore. :(

Although I think a lawn-workers local would make the immigration debate in Chicago a little more interesting ... ;)

...can I make a more ethnocentric remark??
