So I'm doing the conceptual work on a machine that uses bike parts. I'm wondering about the Rohloff speedhub, and the possibility of turning it into a 14-gear fixed by replacing the sprocket. I've never seen a Rohloff, and the diagram on Sheldon's page doesn't clear this particular question up. I'm assuming the rachet system is in the hub itself and can't be swapped out like that, or someone would have done it already?
Alternately, and this "should" be much more straightforward, can I install a sprocket where a brake disk goes and have a wheel that's 14-speed internal one way and fixed the other? This would lose me my gearing down, but that might be okay. What I'm really curious about is that 14-gear fixie. Anyone know enough about the Rohloff to say what it would take to machine such a beast?
