I am doing a sprint triathlon soon in a northern climate. They allow wetsuits for the lake swim, so I am going to use one. I have a very stupid question that I am embarrased to ask my buddies........

What do I wear? Do I wear bike shorts under the wetsuit, and then run in them? Or do I do the 16 mile bike in running shorts without the padding of bike shorts, and have a more comfortable run? I'm also assuming that I should wait to put on my bike/run shirt until I take my wetsuit off in the transition area...???

It averages about 50-65 in the early mornings during this time of year.......

Just my opinion but I think you should go one of two ways.

1. One-piece tri suit
2. Tri Shorts with top of your choice.

I will be using tri shorts in my first OW swim in a couple of weeks. So my outfit will be:

Swim: Tri shorts (Sugoi Pistons, if it matters), wetsuit, hat, goggles.

Bike: Tri shorts, dri-fit vest, bike shoes, gloves, helmet, etc. Number belt.

Run: Tri shorts, dri-fit vest, running shoes. Number belt.

Don't know about changing areas - hope to find out on the day! I was planning on getting the suit down to my waist en route to T1, then getting it off and my bike gear on there.

Here is what i have. I have some simple like $39 "turbo tri shorts." They work really well, fast in the pool and and nice on the bike and run. After the transition I use a zooz top. It rocks. Super cool and comfortiable. For the bike, if you have rat traps just wear racing flats if not get cip ins. I highly recomend that equiptment, its to too expensive but is very good.
