I have a '05 Kona Scrap and I wanna upgrade my brake rotor size. I think they are 6" right now, i want to upgrade to 8". Is it possible to do this?

Upsizing the front is fairly simple but you'll need an adapter for your caliper.

For the rear take a good look at the clearance between your disc and your chainstay. Do you have room for another inch of disc radius? If you do, then I'd guess that another caliper adapter will do it for you.

If its not a thru axle, you may have problems going to an 8", it seems the 8" brackets were designed with thru axle forks in mind as I recall.

I am curious: is there a demonstrable braking improvement by changing the rotor size from 6" to 8"?

It depends on the braking system. If it's a decent setup then yes, the increased rotor size will make a difference. IF the brakes are marginal/crappy/broken to begin with, a larger rotor will work harder against the caliper and may cause worse performance.

Good point! I had forgotten about that. Too much front brakeing power can cause the wheel to try to rotate around the caliper. That can actually cause the hub to eject itself from the fork.
