Hi All,

Anybody have any experience (good or bad) with the Bicycles Inc. Stores in the Fort Worth area? Especially the one on Harwood in Bedford?

I stretched lunch a few minutes today and stopped in there and they seemed knowledgeable and helpful. Price on a Trek 7100 was about 93% of MSR but they did say they'd swap the crank for one with a 22 or 24 tooth small ring and it would only cost me the difference in cost of the cranks.

Any other good shops in this area I should check out before putting my money down?

Thanks,
John

Never been there, but I have two or three ride shirts with their logo on it - as well as a water bottle. :D

I've had some dealing with Bicycles Inc. mostly at events
like HHH or R4R. They seem ok, I do know alot of folks
like em alot.
If you're close enough I'd recommend you check out
Richardson Bike Mart, Jack Johnston bikes (Garland Road?),
and Plano cycle. I've been using RBM and they're great.
The wrenches there are VERY good.

Hmmm, I'd have to have a pretty specific reason to go over there, I think. I hate the traffic corridor getting over to the north east side of the Metroplex. I commute 40+ miles from Weatherford to my job in Hurst, and can usually make it in 40 to 45 minutes. It takes almost that long again for the little hop over to the east side, even though it's probably half the distance. When I took the job in Hurst I turned down a higher paying one out near DFW because the extra ten or fifteen miles through that 183/121 corridor would have meant another 40 minutes each way during the commute.

TRE passes a block in front of my building in Hurst, and there is a stop about two miles away. I really wish they'd run the line out to Weatherford. They probably will, about the time I retire :(

Well, I guess that means they support the local cycling community (I'm assuming you mean they're on the ride shirts as sponsors). That's always worth a few brownie points with me.

I was just curious about the 93% of MSR. I play guitar and I know that, with a few exceptions for short-run or custom gear, nobody except newbies pays more than 70% to 75% of list. I wanted to see if maybe that holds true in the cycling community as well, and if it does get one of you to let me know the secret handshake that gets the better deal :)

Actually, that's only half joking. I know guitar shops (good ones, too) that mark their strings with full retail price. For regular customers and those that know to ask for the "twofer" that price gets you two packs of strings, everybody else gets one. I guess that's their way of paying back the clowns who come in and take up hours of their time and then go to Guitar Center to save ten bucks on a $500 guitar. Ooops, I let the cat out of the bag, if you're one of those clowns I guess I have to kill ya...

I don't think there are any bike clubs out here in Weatherford, but maybe I'll join one over in the Ft. Worth area since that's where I work. I'm thinking about toting the bike to work so I can go riding after work during the spring/summer/fall (gets dark too early in winter) and then commute home after traffic thins out. I guess it might be worth joining a club in that area if only to find out where the good rides are.

I just bought a specialized sequoia from them a couple of weeks ago and I shopped around quite a bit in the DFW area. I found that they were as helpful as anyone and they gave me the best deal. I dealt with this guy named Bernie and would recommend them to anyone!!!

Buy the way I love my new bike so far!!!!! :D

They kinda jerked me around once when I was looking for a replacement cassette, but that may have just been one particular guy. Other than that, they've been good to me. I had a guy offer to take back a saddle if I didn't like it after a few rides.
