okay, so we all know these are sexy bars, but I dunno if I can deal with having to choke up on the stem because they only really have a few inches of flats. are there any bars that are something like nitto b123s crossbred with regular road drops?

Um, if you get wider B123's, I think they'll have a wider flat section.

yeah i got a pair of 46s that have a good grip on top but even then i still find them uncomfortable for anything but racing and there too wide for that so there pretty useless:( but hey just more crap for the parts bin

my solution was to throw grips on the shoulders and tilt the bars up a little. it rides a lot like bullhorns. very comfy.

I actually find the curvature of pista bars a very comfortable holding possition, even more comfortable than my flats on my road bike. If you hold wide on the curvature of the pista bars, it seems like it doesn't put as much stress on the inside (thumb-side) of your wrists, because you aren't bending out your hands as far.

Check out some Cinelli Criteriums. You need a stem that fits them in Cinelli's annoying 26.4 or whatever it is, diameter but if you've got a bike that can take a threaded stem, they make some beautiful stems too. Take a look at eBay. They are aluminum but very comfy.
