Mountain Biking - Downhill Speed Record

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I glanced at an Adventure magazine while waiting for a haircut and saw that a stunt man broke his own downhill speed record on a mtb to a speed of 107~ mph! He crashed and broke a bunch of bones in the process.
He currently holds the downhill record on snow also at something like 128 or 138 mph.
Sick.

I know of a frenchman named Christian Taillefer who in 96 set a downhill speed record at 111 mph on a special built Peugot (sp?). I am nt knowing of a faster speed record though.
Faster than I'd want to go on a bike!

Too bad you don't have a pic of the bike. The thing is crazy looking. The gear ratio on it was ********. :)
