Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - 2007 Langster

I know most of you aren't exactly Langster fans, but maybe someone is interested in this. It appears that for 2007 Specialized have given the Langster a carbon fork, 42x16 gearing with Sugino cranks and a 'rust' coloured paint job. The price has also gone up - yet another reason to buy an IRO?

If you like the compact geo and it's got a decent wheelset, it's probably not too bad of a deal, especially if the cranks are 75's.

langster s-works comes with a carbon fork i think. i'm not a fan of carbon though. unless you're a racing, it just seems bad to me. once it starts to deteriorate its pretty much done.

If that fork is stock.. the rake looks pretty ****ed up for the HT angle

the 06 already has 75's, only reason i wish i got the 06 instead of the 05 on closeout.

Anyways, i hate that paintjob, from the idea that i got from that low quality image, and i'm damn glad i got the 05 for its clean flat carbon gray paint, before they punked/urbanzed it, with thier graffiti esqued logo.

That aside, a carbon fork is going to be a tough sell for the market the langster seems to be shooting for as a city/ urban bike geared for the younger and more "careless about s***" crowd; so most people in that market are looking for something bulletproof, and would assume the carbon fork wouldn't survive the daily grind riding through th city.

I dont see why the fork wouldnt last unless you crash a lot. In which case you either have the worst luck or suck at life and might need to stay off a bike in traffic if you wish to live to be much older.

While you are right, unfortunelty not all bikers are enlightened of the wonders of carbon fiber.

actually what you are looking at is the langster comp - there are 3 models of langster: the regular, the comp, and the s-works. the langster comp comes with a FACT carbon fork, sugino 75 crank, sugino 75 bottom bracket, alex at-400 rims, mondo pro tires, and an alias saddle

how sure are you about that? seems odd that they would add a paint job thats almost exactly the same as the regular Langster of years past, F and R brakes, and then obvious street gearing to the Comp... which was supposed to be an actual track bike. seems like the just added a better crankset and a carbon fork to the Langster.

but the bike in the first post has both a front brake and back,and machined rims, the comp is sold brakeless and with non-machined rims. Im guessing this is is the base model, and non the comp. I doubt someone would spend the extra 400 bucks for themore track ready langster comp, only to downgrade the wheels and throw two brakes on it.

good call on their part IMO. how many of these track bikes are actually seeing the velo anyways? i know mine ain't.

i've never heard of carbon forks being unable to cope with city riding. if you can't avoid the holes buy a huck bike and be done. or learn to ride

i ride 49x15 at the track... that gearing is aimed for street
