I just did this trying to simultaneously mount bike while talking on cell phone with ipod speakers in ears when left foot accidentally clipped in and couldn't clip out in time to save my a$$. My left knee bent inward and in to my rim. My palm mashed my phone into the pavement and my ipod was tossed to the ground as well (thanks to the invisible sheild it was spared any scratches). It was totally my crappy eggbeaters fault.

The rear hub on my road bike exploded one day. I heard a lound smashing sound (like a glass bottle being dropped) and all of a sudden my rear wheel stopped spinning.

yup, looks to me that there is a seam right in the spot my knee jammed (really hard) into it

cheap stuff breaks... i was cornering when this happened. no pedal strike, just sheared clean off.

what does Tune say about radial lacing their hubs?

Tune actually says that you can radially lace their hubs, even the rear. Oh well.

For what it's worth, I bought that bike used and it had seen some good years of riding before I got to it.

The CXP22 isn't welded, its only pinned. You will never hear anyone speak ill of the Mavic Open Pro.

(Happened to a friend of mine)

The same friend borrowed my track bike for a ride, and decided, while taking a break, that it would be a good idea to hang my bike on a streetlight and take a picture. Unfortunately for me, it was quite a windy day and while we has kneeling a few metes away to get a good angle for the shot, my bike was blown of the light and crashed hard to the ground, falling about 2 meters. I now have a wrecked rear wheel and huge dent in the toptube, which no longer is straight. Instead it is going from the seatcluster to the head tube in a slight curve to the right.
