Does anyone have this bike? I am thinking about buying it. Has anyone had any problems with this bike? Also do you guys think I should get the short version or the long one? The LBS only has the long version so I would have to order the short one. Will three inches on the frame make a big difference? Thanks...

I have this bike, the 05 version. The 06 version has alot better components on it. I went with the long but I am also 6-4 so that wasn't even an issue for me. I love the bike, I can't compare it to alot of other DJ bikes because it the first DJ I have owned.
One knock I do have on this bike is it can be very difficult to climb steep hills. I went on a 16 mile bike ride throught the foothills yesterday and I did have to walk it up 2 hills but they were very steep. I blame in on only having 8 speed.
For urban and dirt jumping you can't go wrong. Also trails that are downhill and not too steep.

I've tried it and absolutely love it. Not a big fan of the brakes on it though. Get them swapped out for something better.

Its a very good bike. The hollow frame makes it very light, but can still do big jumps. Very good all around bike.

umm wow! what frame is not hollow????
i have an 04. beat the living **** out of it and it runs like a champ. never had an issue with it. i'd recommend it, its a bit heavy, i'm pretty small and i can jump almost anything on it so the weight isn't an issue. fun bike!!

Like what FreeRidin' said... what bike isn't hollow????? lmao
VERY LIGHT!!?!??!?! I went to my LBS and tried it out and lifted it, holy crap it's as heavy, if not heavier, than my friend's all-out Santa Cruz Bullit lollll and that's 41 lbs.
Let's just say it's not going to be your average trek xc bike. the p2 looks damn nice though... if you're talking about the aluminium version. I'm not so keen on the steel "clay" colour though...
and oh yeah, it's going to be prettttty bombproof. metaphorically.
also, looking at your post... three inches is definitely going to make a difference. even half a degree on a head tube angle changes your bike's handling, and most usually have around 70 degrees to start with. hold on... what do you mean by long/short? are you talking about the frame size? i didn't know bikes came in different wheelbase sizes...

have you seen the p2? it would be a helluva waste to paint it flat black, unless you're going for a profesh look, which is probably not the style of your average p2 rider. the front half (the part u can see when you bike) is flat black anyway...

Short or Long? Well....how tall are you? If I had a dollar for every time I read a super vague question I'd quit my regular, well-paying job.
P.2's are excellent. You might eventually upgrade the fork but for a straight-off-the-shelf ride...it rocks.
Get the long unless you're a dwarf.

I was just implying that you noticed it more on the P2 than most other bikes.

Im pretty small for my age and I wanted to be able to throw it around so I got the small frame. I should have it by next week Wednesday. I can't wait!! It isn't the prettiest bike around but like Chrome said, "Buy the Rockhopper and don't care about how it looks, I don't care about how it looks because it rides so damn well." The P2 isn't that heavy. That was one of the reasons bought it because of the weight. Thanks for all the feedback.

My '05 P2 was around 34 pounds before the Hookworms. Thats not so bad...and nowhere near a 41 pound Bullit.
Also, I have the Short. I'm about 5'7" and feel that it fits great.

ALL frames have hollow tubing. That's probably one of the most ignorant things I've ever read.

WHY??? Why would you want to go and absolutely RUIN the stock paint job?!? Have you even looked at it?!?

I don't. I think that this is a major step forward for them. And I like that they're making Cromo framed P's as well.

Why do you feel the need to be disrespectful? People will know the statement is foolish without you having to point out that it is "one of the most ignorant things I've ever read." Be nice and helpful without putting others down. Play nice. Folks will think more of you. Come on old Jason 22, show some people skills. You can do it. Go post and try again. I look forward to seeing your skills. Good luck with this. I am for you.

I'm sorry for being rude, but that was just...BAD! And I'm pretty sure you can't tell that the p2 has a hollow frame more than other bikes!
I'm yet to see a bike that isn't hollow tubing.
I can really tell you're working in a school Hambone40 :D You kinda sound like one of the guidance councellors(not that I go to see them).
