Mountain Biking - Mtb trails around emeryville

I'm at work in emeryville and I was wondering if anyone knew of any mtb trails within 30 minutes. I brought my bike and I'm thinking of going to briones, unless there is something better? I'm hoping it isn't going to rain, but its been looking like it all day.

How long does it tke you to get across the Richmond-San Rafael bridge?

No idea, give me a trail name and adress and ill mapquest from where I am.

There's Redwood Regional Park in the Oakland Hills. Much closer to you than Briones, I think.

A lot of hikers there, but otherwise a decent selection, especially in the summer since there's plenty of tree cover.

Thats in a good part of oakland? I just don't want to end up in east oakland, thats my worry.

Except that the legal riding in Redwood looks nothing like the picture since it's typical lameass EBRPD fireroad. It's also the most crowded park in the East Bay.

Whats that area up above Berkely, near that lab? I always used to see quite a few people up there.

Honestly though, that was just the first decent pic I found on Google.

Anyway, most of it is fireroad (especially if you travel the circumference), but there are still legal sections that look like that trail, but wider.

i usually ride redwood until just past the chabot space and science center, then cut across joaquin miller road into JM park, where there IS legal singletrack. cinderella, chapparal, palos colorados, big trees (not really singletrack, but still heeps of fun) are all pretty fun trails. if you know your way around, you can hit redwood, head into JM, hit cinderella, palos colorados, and sinawik in both directions in under two hours. if you want better singletrack in the east bay, you'll have to get a set of lights, go out at night, and be prepared to pay a hefty fine if you get caught.

i recently found out that dimond canyon regional park is also open to bikes, which rocks, because that's all singletrack down to fruitvale, basicallly

a friend of mine just recently poached the whole ridge on a very early sunday morning. from tilden to JM on all singletrack. not a soul to be seen except one jogger, who didn't seem to mind.

it's either that, or cross the bridge to china camp, tamarancho or mt. tam. briones is pretty nice, but not a lot of tree cover, which bites in the summer...and it's alllll fire roads. there are some nice views, and a few technical sections, one trail has like 10 creek crossings, but it's mostly kinda 'eh.' it's probably fun on a 'cross bike though.

I think that's where I was. That entire area is damn fun.
