I am looking at getting some sugino 75 cranks, and i was wondering does anyone know what size bottom bracket i need for these to give me a straight chainline with a suzue pro-max sb hub with a eai cog?

107mm shimano with dura ace cog and promax sb, chainline is fine.

Yep, that's what I run as well. Shimano UN53.

I run 75's with DA 7610 bottom bracket (109mm), phil hubs, EAI cog and my chainline is pretty spot on.

i just saw on a web site, that the matching bb for these cranks is 109mm.
does it depend on the hub and cog you are running for the bb length?

promax SB should put you w/in 1-2mm with a shimano 107 or 110.

I use the sugino BB and cups. Straight as an arrow.

i ran these with a cheap shimano 109, as well. never a problem.

You can get away with a Shimano 107/110 BB but if you want dead on, get the matching Sugino 75 109mm BB or a Shimano DA 7610. Those will be perfectly symmetrical.

The closest Phil Wood has in that size is a 110.5 or a 108 but you can adjust the cups to give you the perfect chainline on the driveside with those.

un53 plastic on non-drive side, un73 no plastic. The un53 lasted me more than 4+ years.

the difference between the 53/73 is mainly that the 73 has a hollow spindle.

can't make my mind up now...
sugino cranks = nice cranks which i prefer, but eating baked beans for a month
miche cranks = nice cranks, but not eating baked beans for a month

I've got both and like both a lot.
No discernible difference, to me.

i have miche already too on one bike, but these new cranks will be going on a new build, and it would be nice to try something different. but funds are the problem at the moment.

"Try something different" is why I went Miche on my latest bike.

The un53 lasted me more than 4+ years.

yr lucky. the un's never lasted me more than 2-3 thousand miles before they felt noticably subpar. i'm still running one on my kogswell since it gets ridden less than the jackson or the bianchi, but riding the hell out of the phil and riding the 75 till i need to repack it (2 months) feels better than ripping a BB out every now and then just chucking it.

these threads always make me feel like i'm really abusive toward my gear.
