Hey all, I was hoping that someone would be able to help me out here. I have recently purchased a Pista, and I haven't ridden it very much because I have been waiting on parts. I finally got it all put together and was able to ride it around. I noticed that it is making an unusual sound whenever I am using a lot of pressure. When I am going faster and not using as much force, I don't even hear it. I think it is coming from the chain. It sounds like a clicking noise....does anyone have any clue what this might be? Has anyone else had any experience with this?

Thanks,
Heather

if it happens in the same spot during the rotation when mashing, loose chainring bolt.

oddly enough, sometimes it is the seatpost too. only when sitting, or standing too? otherwise, prolly what shishi said.

If not the chainring bolts, double check the bb...cups. I find that some grease on the threads helps a bit...and the spindle as well. results won't be immediate, give it a few kms to work in.

or the rails of the seat...

or maybe not enough lube?

Thanks guys I think it mostly happens when I'm sitting, but I'm not sure...will try some of the things suggested and see what happens.

Check your pedals as well.. (and by check, I mean swap them out for a friends set, and ride around for an hour, its easier than rebuilding)

If it's a sharp "POP!" or "PING!" sound like someone shot your bike with a BB gun then probably you need to have your bottom bracket cleaned and re-packed with fresh grease. This is part of normal maintenance. Your local bike shop should be able to do this for $20 or so.

i recently cured crank clicks on two of my bikes with a drop of triflow on the pedals and a turn of the wrench. if someone else built up your pista you might try tightening the pedals...

funny bike noises are caused by tiny clowns that are trapped in your bottom bracket. the only way to eliminate this problem is a hot blowing heat against the metal portion of your bike for three hours.

if this fails, it could be that the noise is being caused by a piece of thing that is stuck to your bike at some point and is creaking apart the entire bike.

I'd be really careful!

if the chain is too tight

if the BB spindle has not been greased

if the crank arms are not seated fully

all possibilities. check 'em out and keep us posted!

is that where you keep your crack? i've never thought about using a bottom bracket shell as a crack pipe. your post has been a lesson to us all.

']if the chain is too tight!

I bet the chain is too tight and/or not lubed enough.

my guess is it's your seat/rails; take all that **** apart and grease it up
