A bit of bg: I'm a road guy, but I really like my Softride, and find them more popular with you sort ;)
So I'm seeing side comments on eBay and the like about Softride having stopped making bikes. They seem to be closing-out whatever they have on their website. Does anybody know if this is the case, or if they are just revamping?

A quote from email from Mark Turner at Softride:
The bike division is in the process of being sold. As a result of this,
we have temporarily stopped producing bicycles and bicycle parts. Once
the sale has been completed, the bike production should resume. We have
no firm timeline for the completion of the sale, but you may want to
check your local dealers again in a few months.

In the mean time you do not have to wait for your Beam Bike fix. Softflex has competitors.
Yea, I've lusted after a TitanFlex beam bike for a few years now. Maybe some day...
so who would you reccomend for similar beam-bikes?

I spoke to Softride and they said that they are planning on selling the bike rights and it appears that there are a few prospective buyers that they are talking to.
I wouldn't mind if they stopped making bikes. Here is my theroy...If tri-bikes were the fastest bikes on earth, then everybody wanting to go as fast as possible would ride a tri bike. But if you notice, the pros in the Tour don't ride tri bikes (with exception to time trials)
It has nothing to do with the topic, just my two cents..
sorry! :D
Tri bikes and time trial bikes are fastest....for time trialing. The reason that pros don't ride them for other stages is: 1) it is not legal 2) they don't go around corners well 3) they don't climb as well 4) you can't ride aerobars in a group.
They are decidedly faster going in a straight line in a time trial than a road bike. There is no question about that.

The UCI limits the use of TT bikes and tri type positions because they're grouches about old records. With that said I'm not sold on beam bikes. I think Kestrel airfoil is more convincing. I had a video of a guy on a trainer on a Softride and I poop you not he was moving up and down 2 inches.
There are differences between tri bikse and TT bikes.
