Fifty Plus (50+) - Arm Chair Bike Racing.......Now, Keep an Open Mind

I know we are a bit old for shooting zombies on the kids' PlayStation, but I ran across this:

This is a pc video game that purportedly puts us in the directeur sportif's car seat during the Tour de France. Strategy, risk taking, balancing factors, etc. as we fight towards the maillot jaune

Anyway, any of you more youthful minded (or advanced dotage maybe) BF'ers know anything about this.

Like, I don't spend enough time at the pc with BF. But it might be fun while waiting for the Phil, Paul, Bob,etc. to bring me the real thing.

I realize I may be drummed out of BF for bringing in, gulp, video gaming.

LOLOLOLO. Perhaps you should borrow Velonomad's term...."SWMBO". Then again, on nights I have cold feet, you are comfortably nestled in. Think of DG and me as the Hugh Hefner's of BF.... while you guys are taking out the garbage, we're picking up cute little French podium girls in yellow summer dresses who adore hot cyclists like ourselves. Yeah, right.

You know, a few years ago I got my kids a PlayStation and a few games. They were young teens (girls) and I thought it might be a fun option now and then. But it never caught on in my household, for whatever reason, and today it sits in a drawer, unused.

I've tried on-line gaming, as well, and just can't keep the interest. For a while I loved computer chess, and even computer euchre, but that's about it. The video game gene just doesn't run in my family, I suppose!

However, French podium girls in yellow sun dresses, now THAT's worthy of some time! :D

Actually, I owned and rode a Rans Tailwind for a year and enjoyed it-- but only as an in-neighborhood bike and after-dinner cruiser. I realize I had only pricked the surface of the recumbent world....but you just can't do it all. Sold it to a guy who had back problems and hoped it would be the answer for his cycling. I hope it was.

Yes....with a thick coating of schmaltz.

But there is hope. George Hincapie's lovely wife is a former podium girl. Given that Gary and I (who lead a much cleaner life style the G. Diego) resemble George in both our riding and physical stature, we should have little problem. I'll take the two on the left.

Not into management games on the computer. Just give me a real bike any day. However if you are talking about strategy games- then bring me a new one. Red Alert- Age of Empires- Cossacks. These are the games that I will still be playing at 2 am and then get back home early the next night to finish off that level.

Then again there is the online shopping. That is hard. You want an 11/32 cassette, new chain and a 36t front sprocket to fit a Sugino crank with 5 hole fixing. There are only 8 shops you know off and a finite sum to spend, inc postage. That is a game that keeps my team running and keeps the wife happy- because if I stay within the financial limits, she'll get an evening out on the savings.

Now where can I get the new Tandem frame for next years bike that will save the wife washing up one night a week for the next few months.
