General Cycling Discussion - Forgive me for I have sinned...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Uh-oh! It looks like they put the steering wheel on the wrong side!
;)
Enjoy!
Many of us own and operate motor vehicles; some of them are new and/or expensive. The key is responsible (safe and resource-conserving) use.
Thanks for helping Ford, which has been one of the most disappointing holdings in my stock portfolio.
I was interested to see that Ford has resurrected the Falcon badge in Australia; I don't believe they have used it in the U.S. since the 1960s.

I am certainly thankful that Canadians drive on the French, rather than the Roman, side of the road. Otherwise, the world's longest unfortified border might be the world's deadliest.

I am surprised to hear that Ford still markets a Falcon in Australia. As a teenager in the early 1970s I drove a 1962 Ford Falcon Futura--bucket seats, 4 on the floor stick, long throw shifter, built like a tank, rusting away, large holes in the floorboards--a wonderful car. I hope your new ride does well for you.
OMG! Is that the beast with the 4L I6 and the GT40 BB turbo?? Good god, I bet that combo is good for over 1000HP!!!
VERY cool car! It would tear my MR2 Turbo a new a-hole!

I own 2 cars and use them sparingly (I driven to work about a dozen times in the last year) and totally agree with what you said. Cars are great for distance travel... but suck in the city.
About the resource-conserving use... somehow I doubt that the XR6 gets great mileage! ;)
Looks like a Ford Contour to me.......

1000HP I wish! Maybe with $50K worth of mods...only about 322hp (240kw for metric people).
I haven't forgotten about my bike, I rode to work yesterday and today!

Thanks for the thoughts Chris, last weekend it was the other side of town that was on fire, they are predicting bad things for my side this coming weekend.:(
Falchoon - you'd be amazed at what a GT40 at 30psi could do. If that ford I6 has 2JZ-GTE or RB26DETT strength internals I bet it could handle that power for a while was well. I would hazard to guess that 500+ rear wheel HP is only a boost controller and turbo flange back exhaust away!

Ford Falcon looks like the Ford Cougar prob the English version of it!!! the best car to have over here at the mo is a Subaru Impreza :D my brother has a Italian Job Mini (old mini) but fulfilled a dream to drive a Mini Moke in Australia last year!!!! I've got a Citroen Saxo 1.1 L can't afford to drive anything else being under 25 and the expense of driving in England is so high!!!!! :(
Well, I'm not condemming anyone for having a car, it's your life. But IMO, cars suck! I'm putting a new radiator in my dads car, and all I can say is, "!)($U@(*)%(#*Y^(*(*$#Y^*(#U$)(!!!!!!!." Whoever designed the engine is a freaking idiot, and the space he put it in is to freakin small. What the *%&$& is the point of making a car that the consumer can't )(I*& fix???? And getting a mechanic to do the work cost to &#%^& much. If I have to buy a *&%@(*%&( car on some God forbid day, I am not buying something any later than an 86. If I can't do the work on the car, I ain't paying large hard earned American dollars for it. Bicycles are ingenious, incredible, perfect, beautiful, efficient, works of art compared to those land yaht pieces of (*^^% tanks that drive me off the road. I'm never living in a town that I can't do what I need to do on a bike. If the town forces me to buy a *&%^ car then I'm leaving that $*#$^% town. Have a nice night. J/k, I added that for kicks. But I am ticked at whoever is designing cars and their engines these days.

I agree. I think everybody should either drive a Jeep, a classic bronco, or a big honkin' 4X4 Dodge truck loaded down with mountain bikes. ;)
Sorry fubar, i know I mis-quoted you there a little, but couldn't resist...
I imagine you could take that to Greenspeed and they would convert it into a nice trike! :)

"whoever" is your EPA forced engineer, who is trying to appease the people in the EPA, who are trying to appease the people who don't want cars at all (to keep the smog down). Plus those same engineers are the people who are trying to appease their bosses who want the bottom line to add up to + something. Then there are the people who are bringing us the news. The people who are bringing the news to us are trying to appease the people who buy advertising. The people who buy advertising are the people who aren't really sure what they want, but they are sure they want their paycheck. That involves saying lots of things they may or may not really want to say. Including "BUY A NEW SUV!". This is such a great country!
That brings us to me, the person who really needs something (an SUV would be good) to drag me, my friends, plus all our gear up a rough Ozzzzzzzzzark mountain road to our destination so we can ride. And on this forum that's all that really matters. To ride. So, ride on, and let the rest worry about the rest. The smog, the engine designs, heck, even the wars in the middle east. There are people out there who actually enjoy watching things like that. Let's just ride on and pay our taxes, and let the rest take care of itself. While we can...

Given the choice I would much rather ride than drive find it far less stressful there are just too many cars on the road over here far too many jams at least on my bike I can ride thru jams and keep going prob get to my destination a bit faster!!! :D but when u are getting thru jams I find that motorists get so peeved off when they think that u are getting further than them :( I have to have a car as my bfriend lives on the other side of town and he doesn't drive or cycle!!! :(
