Anyone know how to accurately measure the diameter for a seatpost without having one of the special measuring rods they have in LBSes? Is there any kind of general rule of thumb for these measurements based on frame materials?

I'll 1+ that and add it's one of the best purchases you'll make in the tools arena. Amazing how often you'll use it for scads of measurements once you have it. BTW, if you don't know how to read a a vernier scale, get someone to show you. . .it isn't self-evident but once you see how, it's just TOO COOL!
