Mountain Biking - Nashbar Special ATB Pedal #NS-EP2 plz help

are these decent pedals. for the cost i have 3 bikes i want to buy for, because i dont wan to be switching pedals everytime.

do they hold up? or are they easy to break?

if not what about these? the NR-PDL

its a SPD clone. they wont last forever but at $15 a set you wont go wrong if you like Shimano type pedals. I prefer TIME but a lot of folks love their SPDs.

Those pedals are not Shimano SPD compatible. Similar, but not exact. I have them and took them off because I have other pairs of pedals that are Shimano SPD compatible.

If you want multiple sets of SPD compatible pedals, just pick Shimano 520s off of Craigslist as they come up. Many people take them off their new bikes for something else. I see them pretty regularly for $20 a pair.

Or, the Ascent pedals from Performance are Shimano SPD compatible, and $5 more.

I'm not sure that's correct. I've got ritchey SPDs on my road bike, and got these pedals for my MTB. I use the same pair of shoes for both bikes.

They needed some breaking in, but then worked perfectly.

I have 98a cleats which work perfectly in my wellgo pedals and my shimano pedals. I could get the my 98a cleats into the nashbar pedals, but it was a bear to get them out. Yes, I could, but I ended up moving my cleats in my shoes getting them out. They are not quite compatible. They go in, but getting them out is tough. And I don't want tough on cleats. I think there is another thread where someone asked Nashbar and they said they were not Shim spd compatible. YMMV.

remember the poster is getting some for All their bikes so different cleats will not be needed and they do come with cleats that will work for them so the whole Shimano cleats not working point is moot. if they get new pedals they may need to change but the cleats might be worn enough to eliminate the break in needed.
you cant beat $45 for 3 sets of pedals with cleats. my ATAC cleats are $17 a pair .

I have two pairs, 2000 miles on one, singlespeed, 98% offroad, and 4000 on the other set, commuting, both holding up fine, no problems. And as said, no problem with shoes if all the same.
