I once rode through what seemed to be an endless flock of redwinged blackbirds that was taking off as I rode through. It really was one huge flock, flying in all directions, calling and screeching. I guess it doesn't sound too exciting but it was cool.

That is a good one, I just hope the cops confiscated his/her license...

Rode through one of those, too. It was cool.

it's a tie between the above, and after hitting mile ~65 or so, seeing the view of lake mead during the Las Vegas Century.

Blood-red sunrises

A massive blue/green Lyrebird, but the most amazing thing...

Riding in the floods of Feb 2001 and seeing about 30 or 40 waterfalls on the O'Reilly's ride that aren't normally there.

A beaver swam toward me in it's pond. I stopped and watched the beaver cut a small tree underwater just about 8 feet from where I was standing. I could hear the beaver cutting thru the small tree underwater. I had never really thought about beaver cutting trees under water until that time. That sure put a smile on my face for the rest of the ride.

One balmy evening a while ago I was riding alone on my usual route toward home along the local coastal bike path when I stopped to soak in the spectacle of blood-orange clouds set afire by a glorious sun as it descended behind the Monterey Peninsula, a sparkling mound of jewel-like city lights mirrored on glassy bay waters. Behind me was a mammoth yellow-pink moon rising majestically over Fremont Peak...

Didn't really bother me that I had no camera, it was the moment that mattered... I felt like it was all meant just for me...

I'm usually flying down a 45 degree incline... hence I don't take in many of my surroundings. But I once saw some guy land a 5-6 meter jump down from one trail to the one below... that was damn impressive. I tried copying and wiped out - hey, worth a try right?

I watched a friend of mine bunny-hop over two guys who fell in front of him during a Cat IV crit. I couldn't believe that he cleared them like that. He said later that it was pure adrenalin. All that and he didn't even break a spoke.

seeing a cute fellow cyclist riding the other way on the other side of the road, and having him wave at me. it also helps if he has beautifully shaven legs too.:p :p :p :p

While I was touring in Vermont, I was passed by a rally of 32... (yes 32!) Ferrari automobiles within 2 hours. They were all different kinds: 308s, 328s, Tesstarossas, etc. After I saw the 2nd or 3rd one, I was like... "damn, I riding a mt. bike at 13mph, but I'm still getting better gas milage!"

1) a 7.1 on the Richter scale! I was on my Rockhopper Comp back in '89...

2) my Dad run a marathon over the summer in San Diego. I rode along side him for 26.2 miles!

3) Myself, in the eyes of someone else...

Renting a tandem bike in Central Park, riding it with my wife into Times Square, (and living to tell about it).
