I am headed for Ft. Bragg this weekend and looking for feedback trails in the area. Someone said something about the "redwood curtain" single track ride, but nothing specific. Anyone with info. please let me know.
Many thanks!

Never ridden it, but watch out for the ak47 toting pot farmers.

+ about a thousand. In that neck of the woods, if it isn't a paved road or a well-maintained fire road, I simply wouldn't do it. It truly is not worth the very, very real risk of stumbling onto a pot-growing operation, complete with agri-businessmen who are not happy about interlopers and neither bashful nor subtle in expressing that displeasure. Having your ride terminated with extreme prejudice does not make for a particularly good vacation.

OK, as a 55 yo, still hard ass vet, owner of too many firearms, and a sometimes Irish temper, if one of those "ag boys" get pissy...hello Glock 19 with the 14 rd. clip. Yeah, I know it would land me in jail, but it just pisses me off that law enforcement ignores the drug growers. I'm riding and will post what I find.

A good friend of mine lives in Westport, which is a few miles up the coast from Ft Bragg. His house backed up to the forest, and it was an unwritten agreement that they DID NOT venture father inland than the first ridge.

The truth is, if pot was legal, this would never happen. Also, your little glock is not going to do @#$!
Anyway, good luck and have fun.

Guy, I doubt if you have even held a Glock, let alone fired one. The issue of legality is another discussion, but not for wasting space at this forum.

AS a FYI, I have backpacked over much of the Sierra-Nevada's and N. Coast (Trinity Alps regions) over the last 40 years (damn, getting old) and have come across 2 growing operations. Both times there were a few people there with dogs and said I was just passing through. No incidents, no threats. I reported both at ranger check-in and have not a clue what happened after that. I am not naive to think that these grower/dealers are harmless. If discovered on a ride/hike, I will give wide bearth and report to law enforcement. Ride safe and often.

How exactly did you come to this conclusion, since you know nothing about me. There is no logical way to come to that conclusion, so your response must be based entirely on emotion. Is it because I made fun of your little gun? Its people like "a 55 yo, still hard ass vet, owner of too many firearms, and a sometimes Irish temper" that think they can take on ak47's with their little hand gun, and then they end up dead.
I've held and fired several guns, but I don't need to own one so I can feel like a hard ass.

mcoine, if you think a 9mm is a little gun...well it tells me what you know about firearms....squat. And my being a hard ass has nothing to do with me owning or packing a firearm. In fact, I am less of a hard ass if carrying because it takes a very clear head to ever take a pistol out of it's holster. My hard ass comment was a reflection on my personality, my wroing hard at being fit, and my beliefs. I hate politicians on both sides for being blatent lyers, won't put up with political correctness, diversity is complete bull crap, and could care less about your color, religion, or sexual preference. If you are a decent person, we'll get along. If not, get outta my space. I am a equal opportunity hater of aholes, scammers, and theives. Enough of this b.s., time to ride. Mcoine, ride safe and enjoy life.
